Actress Jamie Lee Curtis has been cast to play the character Dr. Tannis in the upcoming Borderlands movie, an adaptation of the popular video game of the same name. Borderlands takes place in the future on the fictional planet of Pandora. The characters in the original video game, known as Vault Hunters, travel to Pandora in hopes of finding rumored "Vaults" on the planet. They believe they contain highly coveted powers, as well as advanced technology. The Borderlands film will be directed by Eli Roth, who is perhaps best known for the horror films Cabin Fever and Hostel. Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett will star in Borderlands as the illustrious thief Lilith, and Kevin Hart will play the soldier Roland in the movie.

In the game series, Dr. Tannis is a scientist and archaeologist who guides the team sent to Pandora to search for the Vault. She is a non-player character in the Borderlands game and makes important appearances in the sequel Borderlands 2 and the follow-up game Borderlands 3 as well. She becomes an essential part of achieving the group's ultimate goal of finding the Vault.

Per Collider, Curtis has been cast as the Borderlands movie's Dr. Patricia Tannis. Her character "might have the key to finding the vault." However, her "complicated history with Lilith isn’t going to help." Roth expressed his excitement about working with Curtis in Borderlands, calling the opportunity one of his lifelong dreams. Lionsgate's Nathan Kahane also spoke highly of Curtis, saying she's "like family to us." The actress starred as Linda Drysdale in the company's 2019's film Knives Out.

Jamie Lee Curtis in Knives Out

Curtis is no stranger to movie franchises. She has been acting for over four decades now and is best known for starring in the Halloween movies. After declining to participate in a few of the subsequent films in the franchise and even after her character appeared to have been killed off, she returned to the role of Laurie Strode in 2018 for the eleventh installment of the franchise. Despite taking a sixteen-year break from the role in the past, it appears as though Curtis is now fully committed to the Halloween series. That could make her more likely to reprise the Dr. Tannis role as well, if any Borderlands movie sequels are made. If so, the actress will have a busy schedule ahead of her, as she will also star in two more upcoming installments of the Halloween franchise called Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.

Believe it or not, Curtis also has a few other projects she is set to lead in the near future. Based on her long and highly successful career, it would be difficult for Curtis to disappoint those who enjoy Borderlands. She has shown her immense talent in several different genres from comedy to horror. There really is no doubt she will bring something special and unique to the role of Dr. Tannis as well. There is no known release date yet for the Borderlands movie, but with this solid cast already signed on, it will be even more exciting to see how Pandora comes to life on the big screen.
