Troy Duffy is a jerk. When he wrote the origional he sold it to a major production company, and was helping to direct the movie. He was so difficult that the studio went back and declined to produce it and black balled Duffy in Hollywood. They attempted to stop him from ever making the movie. He went on to produce it as an independent flick and eventually succeeded, following and preceding its release a number of suspected attempts on Duffy’s life were made forcing Duffy to go into quasi-exile. Ten years later he’s back and probably still a jerk but I guess he kissed and made up with Hollywood. I am stoked for this film but I bet it has lost some of its independent grittiness and I am not expecting to be talking about this sequel ten years from now as I am talking about the origional.

Ok Boondock Saints, I love your movie and can’t wait ’till i see the next one!!!I love the prayer that you say.I forgot the name of the song it’s in but there’s a song with that prayer you say and it’s you guys saying it but any ways I’m tring to learn it by heart and I’m geting preety arn close to it! Well i’d love to hear from you.It would be like the best thing in the world if i did hear back.;p

Billy C. was a small but important role in the original film and Defoe ( in my opinion ) was at least 30% of the first movie . If you didn’t like his character you didn’t get the movie ! Sad he won’t be back but still gonna see it .I agree with Hunter about the difference from QT films and must say I much prefer the clever approach over the club .

I dont see how you can say they sold out, the budget for the first movie came out at around $6mm and the new one was still below $10MM (i believe 8). I think the technology is just much better since it has been crazy long since the first one.

Stoked for the movie and glad they finally worked out all the legal issues to get this movie made

Definitely more Hollywood than the first one, but still looks like it will be good.
I think a lot of people that didn’t like the first movie just didn’t get it. Boondock Saints though it had some crazy action, was mostly story driven, and had a serious sociological point.
If watching the first movie didn’t make you think, you missed the point.

The major difference between this film and a Q-Tarantino film is, this movie was smart not particularly shocking. Q-T movies are shocking and not terribly smart, he uses violence to create an effect instead of the other way around.

Another interesting fact about the first one. It was very briefly released in theaters. It was pulled right after columbine because people freaked out. I think that has more to do with its cult following. Still a great movie though.

Yea, I was a little late to the party as well but always loved the movie. Definitely looking forward to the sequel. Looks like a lot more money was put into it. BTW, according to wikipedia, The Rocko scenes are flashback scenes. He did die in the first one. Also, Willem Defoe opted out citing he was moving in a different direction. Definitely looking forward to it though.

Can’t wait! If it’s only 1/2 as good as the orignal that will still be 100% better than the a lot of the crap films hollywood is putting in our faces today.

For those of you who did not like this film thats fine, we all have our opinions. I hope they do leave the spitirual aspect in, hollywood has a way of cutting everything religous out of films, odly though most of the nation is still spiritual.

Every now and then you want to see a film that is not ment to be take seriously and have a blast. Thats wht the BDS is all about. (at the same time I wish they were real, we could use them in every major city.)

I think the serious overtone is still there. The mob has the priest wacked to send the brothers a message, and they are gonna ‘send a message right back.’ Pretty serious to me. And, while Dafoe’s protege is a stretch, the name “Unis” just makes me think Dafoe’s character got a sex change. I am so pumped for this movie…
