At the end of Episode 6 of Disney+'s The Book of Boba Fettthe beloved Grogu not only made a triumphant return to the Star Wars universe but was presented with a destiny-defying choice that left viewers on a pendulous cliff-hanger. By the next chapter, presumably, the Child will walk the way of the Jedi or step into the armor of a Mandalorian.

While both outcomes are equally feasible, only one path will claim the large-eared alien toddler. As of now, fans can only hope and speculate which way he might choose, but there might be evidence that his fate is already decided.

Padawan

His Obvious Ties To Yoda

Yoda and Grogu

It doesn't take a genius to figure out that Grogu is the exact same species as the best Jedi in the galaxy, Master Yoda. That's not to say he would be groomed as the legendary Jedi's replacement, but it would make sense that he would follow in his small but mighty footsteps.

Anyone can look at Grogu and make a connection to Yoda, and to think that he wouldn't become a very powerful Jedi would be a little farfetched. That being said, it is still unknown as to what exactly Grogu is. He might be a clone, a direct descendant, or even just a member of the same species, but his ties are still an obvious part of his character.

His Survivor Status

As his past is revealed to him by his master, Luke Skywalker, it is shown that Grogu isn't just the last of the Jedi younglings seen in the prequel trilogy, but a survivor who was right in the heart of Order 66. Since he possibly retains the teachings from the original order, he already has an advantage in the Jedi way.

As remarked by Master Skywalker, he's starting to remember things the more he trains. It could be perhaps that Grogu already knows a bit more than the basics, but only the next episode will tell. It wouldn't be wrong to assume he still holds some of the training he learned years ago.

His Increased Force Sensitivity

In The MandalorianGrogu has already demonstrated he's remarkably gifted in the ways of the Force, even with gaps in his formal training. Levitation and energy barriers are standard-issue Jedi powers, but the way he can heal wounds and even Force-Choke an enemy is enough to put him in a gifted Padawan unit.

There's a reason the writers and creators pulled him directly into iconic Jedi Luke Skywalker's hands. By having Grogu as Luke's first student in his new Jedi order, a seed is planted that will shape the events of the galaxy's future.

His Lifespan

Luke said it best, a short time for Grogu is a lifetime for others. As a Jedi, he will constantly be learning the ways of the Force, as well as carrying on the legacy long after characters like Luke and Ashoka have become one with the universe. As a Mandalorian, however, he will be dwelling amongst a dwindling order.

Canonically, Grogu is actually 50 years old, yet retains the body of a toddler. He might not even reach maturity until he's at least a century or so. It's this long lifespan that makes him the perfect candidate for a Jedi Master to be.

His Untapped Potential

One thing that must be recognized is that of the Force abilities Grogu uses that viewers have seen, it's still not the full story. They know he can do the basics such as levitate and such, but they don't know just how far that vein of power stretches. While it might not be as devastating as Palpatine's strength, it's definitely strong.

Sometimes the best answers are those left up to the audience's imagination, and that's precisely what the series has relied on thus far. For all the viewers know, Grogu could wield Force Lightning and not even know it. If he walks the path of the Jedi, it's hard telling what potential powers might be uncovered.

Foundling

The Mandalorians Found Him First

While they technically might be playing finders-keepers with Grogu on this one, Din Djarin did take Grogu into his care after saving him from his captors. If the practice of their order is to be believed, he has already been claimed as a foundling before the Mandalorian was sent on his quest to reunite him with the Jedi.

For further proof, the Armorer herself calls him a foundling before she makes him a tiny set of Beskar chainmail. This could be an indicator that he's already been claimed by the tribe and must be shown "the way."

He Has Spent More Time With A Mandalorian Than A Jedi Master

To be clear, this is based on what viewers already know having watched both The Mandalorian and what has transpired in the new series thus far. It's unknown what Grogu was doing after surviving the events of Order 66 and before his time with his adoptive Mandalorian father figure, but it's reasonable to assume he's been away from the Jedi for a considerable stretch.

Even if his infancy was spent at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, it wouldn't be illogical to state that he's more likely to remember his time with Din Djarin easier than his early Jedi training. Viewers won't know until Luke sweeps his memories again.

He’s Used His Powers To Help The Mandalorians More

Grogu uses the Force in The Mandalorian

Based on the powers demonstrated in The Mandalorian, Grogu has used his Jedi abilities more for his Mandalorian friends than reaching out to any surviving Force-user. If it wasn't for him forming a relationship with Din, he would never have found his way to Master Skywalker.

Grogu saves Din from being mauled by the Mudhorn, Force-chokes Stormtroopers, and even tries to stand up to Moff Gideon. If he wasn't so easily winded at his young age, he might have found his own way back to his silver-clad savior.

Without Him, Din Wouldn’t Have The Darksaber

If Moff Gideon hadn't used Grogu as leverage in the finale of The Mandalorian, Din wouldn't have discovered and reclaimed the Darksaber. It's only through being reunited with Grogu and continuing his mission to bring him to the Jedi does he come across the most infamous weapon in all of Mandalorian lore.

The Star Wars universe has a way of painting a bigger picture with the use of abstracts like destiny, bonds, and attachments. In this case, all three work together to form an image that might shed some light on Grogu's future.

His Mutual Attachment To Din Djarin

It's stated by more Jedi Masters than Luke that Jedi aren't allowed to form attachments, but that's not to say they won't. Upon first meeting Ahsoka Tano, it's established that he has already formed a strong bond with the Mandalorian that has an effect on his abilities. This could spell out that Grogu has already made his choice.

One thing that viewers do know for certain is that Grogu and Din Djarin have a strong relationship, which means he might be persuaded to join the Mandalorians rather than stick with the Jedi. While Din might urge him to stay with his own kind, his heart's not made of steel.
