The Mandalorian season 3 picks up after the events of The Book of Boba Fett, which contained three episodes featuring the character Din Djarin. While The Mandalorian season 3, episode 1 certainly recaps enough of the events of The Book of Boba Fett so that those who have not seen the latter series can follow on, some fairly impactful moments were featured in the spinoff series. Some of these moments directly involved the Mandalorian himself, Din Djarin, which spanned the time between The Mandalorian seasons 2 and 3.

Given the reintroduction of Boba Fett to the wider Star Wars canon in The Mandalorian season 2, it made sense for The Book of Boba Fett to include Din Djarin in return. While The Mandalorian season 3, episode 1 tells a reasonably self-contained story that laargely follows on from season 2, the events of The Book of Boba Fett are important to remember. With that in mind, here is every episode of The Book of Boba Fett in which the Mandalorian appeared, and what major developments happened in each.

The first episode of The Book of Boba Fett to feature Din Djarin was episode 5, aptly titled "Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian." This episode did not actually feature the titular character of Boba Fett at all and revolved entirely around Din Djarin's adventures post-The Mandalorian season 2. The succeeding episode, titled "Chapter 6: From the Desert Comes a Stranger," continued the story set up in "Chapter 5," while also featuring limited screen time for Fett himself.

The final episode of The Book of Boba Fett, "Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor," capped off the series with the explosive team-up of Din Djarin and Boba Fett that had been built to in the preceding two episodes. While The Book of Boba Fett received its fair share of criticism for the approach, these final three episodes are often considered among the best. That being said, it was seen as a disappointment that much of Boba Fett's screen time in his own show was donated to Din Djarin before The Mandalorian season 3.

What Happens To The Mandalorian & Grogu In Book Of Boba Fett

Grogu and Mando in The Mandalorian season 3

As for what happened in The Book of Boba Fett to the Mandalorian and his little green friend Grogu, the events are of great importance to The Mandalorian season 3, episode 1. "Chapter 5" of Boba Fett sees Din attempting to track down the Armorer and his old covert. Upon finding them, he learns more about the Darksaber and how the one who wields it has the right to rule Mandalore. Din beats Paz Vizsla in a challenge for the saber before being cast out from the Children of the Watch due to removing his helmet, and is told to bathe in the waters of Mandalore to be accepted back.

He then travels to Peli Motto, who gifts him an N-1 Starfighter after the Razor Crest was destroyed, before agreeing to work for Boba Fett through Fennec Shand. First, though, Mando visits Grogu to deliver a chain mail shirt made by the Armorer, with the young Jedi training under Luke Skywalker. There, Grogu learns more about the Force and his trauma during Order 66, before Mando is warned away from seeing the child by Ahsoka. Din leaves to help Boba fight the Pykes in "Chapter 7," in which Grogu returns to him after choosing the vest over a lightsaber and the Jedi way, kickstarting the events of The Mandalorian season 3.
