Vincent Nigel Murray Memorial

Following the heartbreaking death of beloved squintern Vincent Nigel-Murray (Ryan Cartwright) in the penultimate episode of Bones season 6, series creator Hart Hanson revealed that a memorial had been created for their fellow comrade in the Jeffersonian Lab.

Unfortunately, Mr. Nigel-Murray’s memorial has never made its way on the air – and with the birth of Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan’s (Emily Deschanel) baby soon approaching, the producers may not be able to find an appropriate time to reveal the beautiful remembrance that hangs on the laboratory wall.

Luckily, we have some photos from the set of Bones that reveal the wonderfully crafted memorial plaque in its entirety (see below). Hanging on a yet to be identified wall of the Jeffersonian (I’m sure Bones fans could help with the location), the bronze plaque appropriately states “In Memory of Vincent Nigel-Murray” above a picture of the fallen squintern. Below Mr. Nigel-Murray’s picture lay the words “Friend, Colleague, Scientist, Font of Fascinating Facts.”

While we still don’t know why the plaque was never shown on television, the fact that it was created in the first place is all that matters. In terms of characters on the series, one could say that Mr. Nigel-Murray was simply one of several rotating squinterns during the course of two seasons. Of course, Bones fans would never say such a thing.

Vincent Nigel-Murray was not only the fan favorite squintern, but his death was one of the most emotionally draining events on network television in recent years. His death was so impactful that we included him in our list of the 15 Most Shocking Deaths of 2011, where he bested several other critically acclaimed series on television.

Much more than shocking, Vincent Nigel-Murray’s death was honest to his character – which only made it that much more painful to watch.

We didn’t want you to go either, Mr. Nigel-Murray, but you exited the series in one of the most beautiful ways possible.
