Oops that was supposed to say WASN’T likeing.

Foopher says:

i really liked the cartoon, but i don’t think the preview shows much of anything about the movie.

yes the CGI looks sweet, but give me more

Chris says:

Personaly im massivly looking forward to it, iv been waiting to see this for ages thinking i would have to wait to see transformers before I did, my only dissapointment with the look of this is the lack of asian text/symbols they used in the opening of the cartoon and that ancient asian influened world feel. I am also wondering, that wouldnt be the Northen Air temple would it? if so, kinda got it wrong…imo anyway

I do hope M.Night adapts the classic Avatar theme aswell but all things considered the CGI for the bending looks desent but kinda reminds me of Dragonball evolution a bit, but like all others i need to see more before i judge, would you agree?

LikeItMuch? says:

Yeah the kid does look kind of wierd it makes me wonder wether he is gonna do a good job, but the trailer is cool can’t wait. Why isn’t there any news about the Tekken Movie coming out in Agusut??

bugsbane says:

I had not noticed the firebenders that were scaling the cliffs to get to Aang in the temple. I was trying to make out Katara and Sokka – but could not. At first I thought the last image was about the attack on the northern water tribe – but this looks like the southern air temple. Or perhaps Roku’s temple.

SIN187UM says:

Looks Better than Dragon Fail De-Evolution.

vid says:

Despite my own opinions on the white washing of the main cast. This was good for a teaser trailer. I still won’t watch the movie but may seek out the cartoon.

The Voice of Reason says:

sweet trailer. hopefully M Night can make up for The Happening.

Jonathan says:

I have watched the entire series and enjoyed it quite much. I felt it was a breath of fresh air as it was a truly original storyline, with a great cast and while it handled some complex themes, it never strayed from it’s target audience. I for one look forward to the film, and it may be the first M. Night Shayamalan film I see in the theaters in quite a while (actually since Signs)

bigDOG says:

Ummm July 2nd, wouldn’t that put it up against Iron Man 2? If so this movie is, well doomed.

INK says:

@Voice of Reason

NOTHING can make up for The Happening.
He should be thanking whatever god he serves that he ever got another directing job after that crapfest of a movie.

Mat D. says:

Ive seen a fair amount of episodes of the animated series and it just doesn’t seem like something that would translate well to live action….it won’t be Dragonball: Evolution type suck…but it won’t be good

LikeItMuch? says:

yes Dragonball evolution was so miss leading and was a real let down, but this i reckon will be pretty cool so long as they stick by the original cartoon story line

RedK says:

Um, since when is Aang white?!

JessSayin says:

@INK

DITTO!

mike says:

there deff gonna kill one of da greatest cartoons made!!
da actors they shows r freaking terrible but w.e ill still watch it

christian says:

the movie looks way better than dragnball z but hopefully the last airbender follows the same story line as the cartoon or they would have just killed the avatar story and what sense would it make if they changed the story

Mia says:

I’m sorry, CG can’t make up for the poor choices in character casting or not staying true to the series.

AJ says:

I hope this is good. Iv seen every episode of the Nick series. This has potiental, i hope they rate it PG-13 so they can show better fighting scenes than the Nick series. But i think it will be good. Cant wait for July 2010!!!!

jpduval8 says:

pessimistic jerks. 1st of all it’s set in an alternate timeline where there are no “races”. Your “race” would actually be your nationality. Furthermore I never believed Aang to be “Asian” as I didn’t see any “Asian” features in his character. And lastly if you compare Noah Ringer in costume to Aang they actually look a lot alike, so quit finding reasons to moan and complain about how they aren’t doing the series any justice and at least wait until the you’ve seen the movie before you give your pre-determined criticism

Deb K says:

Can’t wait for this movie….I’ve seen all the cartoons and i think the lead Aang looks pretty close to the character.

Kris says:

Wow. “not staying true to the series.” How can you see that from what has been shown of the film so far? Because of the casting? Wow. Pessimistic is for sure the right word choice here.

Fenix says:

Could be cool… I know nothing about the series but if Night is doing a live action movie on it than there must be something special about the story/characters even though his last few movies were high quality garbage.

shadopup says:

it’s hard to judge anything from a teaser.

Phyllis says:

It may sound pessemistic, but when you hear of someone like Jesse McCartney being the initial choice for Zuko, who is one of the least caucasian characters in the series, and Jackson Rathbone playing an obviously Inuit based character (Sokka), you don’t exactly get a positive feel for the film. I will never understand the logic in picking Shyamalan as a director of ANYTHING after The Happening, let alone for something that has such a strong fan base. I’ve seen all three seasons, and the lack of respect and representation of the cultures in the show is so upsetting. I am so sick of Hollywood whitewashing roles when there are plenty of actors and actresses who fit the cultural description in want of work!

Phyllis says:

For the record, I have no problem with the young man cast as Aang. The older Airbenders have obvious Asian features, but Aang has more versatility in whom can portray him.

Trish says:

NONE of the Avatar cartoon characters look anything other than caucasion. We’re talking white, white, white. Having said that, I don’t care what race the actors are, as long as they can ACT. I can’t say I’ve seen all of Mr. Shyamalan’s work, but the casting has always been good, even if the concept and/or plot has been iffy. With ATLA, he has a solid concept and plot already in place. I think it could be good.

Phyllis says:

Well, I would think Hollywood is going to get pretty boring if all key (and non-stereotypical) roles, whether based on characters of color or not, are only going to go to White people. I mean, we are a nation of different faces and nationalities, all of whom accomplish great things and are capable of such. Why can’t that be represented in our films? ESPECIALLY when the character’s description calls for it?! As for you, Trish, maybe you need to sit down and actually watch the series. As far as I’m concerned, most of Shyamalan’s films are garbage, and based on that alone I can’t see this movie being much better. It’s a shame that a great show has to be culminated in such a way, and with such an…interesting director. Nice going Konietzko and DiMartino. But we will see. I could be wrong about this film. Doubtful, but maybe.

Slivertongue says:

I for one am reserving judgment until I see this film. I’ve just begun watching the cartoon, so I don’t have the whole picture yet, but I love it so far. As for ‘not doing justice’, there are few, and I do mean few live action movies that can ever do true justice to books, comics or animated series. There just isn’t the budget, time or resources for that today. I think if people went in with a margin for ‘error’ (i.e. some questionable casting, poorer acting, low-budget special effects, etc), you can enjoy many of these films a lot more. As far as the casting, as a person of a visible minority, my feeling is that Hollywood (and every other major movie centre) should cast people according to their talent, abilities and merit for a role, no matter what they look like and where they come from. I’ve found that Britain has been great for this; they hire who they think will do the best job, regardless of race, looks or ‘audience preferences’. I just hope that all the people in this film do their best and Shyamalan doesn’t drop the ball again. *I’m looking at you, Lady in the Water*

Kris says:

Hey Silvertongue, I love the inkheart books dearly. But I think the movie did not turn out right. Here’s to hoping The Last Airbender will be different.
