Lamorne Morris is best known for his role as Winston on New Girl, and who started in films like Game Night and the last installment of Barbershop. In this film Lamorne plays Wilfrid, the techie that helps Ray Garrison take control of his life and also takes on Sam Hueghan’s character Jimmy Dalton in Bloodshot. Hueghan is known for his breakout role in Outlander. This time around he plays Dalton who is a soldier who has lost a few things only to be recruited by RST and is given some enhancements that will help him continue the fight and try to take down Ray Garrison (Bloodshot). Bloodshot hits theaters March 13th.

Congratulations guys on the film. I enjoyed it. It was like a mix between Terminator and 50 First Dates.

Lamorne Morris: Oh wow! Pretty good combo.

First off, probably the most interesting thing about the film is it left you wanting a little bit more of your guys' backstory. Was there any talks of maybe like incorporating some scenes that showed who you guys were before the film's story?

Lamorne Morris: I know for me there was originally - we never got around to doing it - but we talked a lot about it just to help me form the character. You know, how long has he been in servitude? How long has he been a coder? You know, what got him to this point where he's doing it for money, what got him to this point where he's doing it for nefarious reasons. So we definitely dove into that a little bit. Hopefully the franchise goes on and we can actually do that and dive further into the psyche of this weird character that I play.

Sam Heughan: I'm pushing for the origin story of Dalton. I think we need a movie all about him and how he became that way. But yeah, I mean I did actually sit with Dinesh and Dave and you know, kind of worked out in what happened to him, and where's he come from, you know, this excellent soldier, this Navy seal. And then he's gone through some trauma or he lost his legs and then like how long has he been there and why is he so, so damn angry?

Vin Diesel and Sam Heughan in Bloodshot

Yeah, exactly. Well, I kind of understand where he's coming from, why he's so angry. I mean, it's like having that friend that tells you the same jokes and he keeps saying it over and over. I mean, you guys have gone through the motion of doing this thing with Ray, but what sets him apart from KT? They're kind of on the same path. But why does he go along with Harting versus like, choosing the path that KT did?

Sam Heughan: He's a soldier first and foremost, he follows orders, but, uh, he's not happy about it. I think he's beginning to question it. He's kind of bored of it and I think he also desperately wants that technology. He thinks he's a better soldier than Ray. I mean, who's this Ray guy anyway? Like, Dalton's got it all, right? And no, he feels like he's more deserving and he's getting more and more frustrated by the fact that he's not getting the opportunity. I think out of that also, you know, he's angry that what happened to him. He's angry. He lost his legs. He's angry at the world and Ray's going to get it. Well, and you're going to get it.

Lamorne Morris: Luckily, our characters didn't cross paths because my character play would have gone down, had something for you. They would have gone down in a sequel.

With Wilfred, he's a character created specifically for this film. Did you draw any inspiration from other characters, from other films to bring this character to life?

Lamorne Morris: I did, you know, I looked a lot at Simon Pegg just as a Brit, as a funny. He's one of my favorites, just even before, like just for, since forever. I love Ricky Gervais and I love his sense of humor and how obscure he can go, comedically. I looked a lot at, you know, in certain moments where I'm trying to be a bit more intense, you know, I looked a lot at Idris, you know, they're, they're really strong actors, so I looked a lot at some of the way that they would do things and I would pull from their British mannerisms in that form. You know, as far as character goes. So I pull a lot from different people that I admire. But ultimately it was just a lot of Lamorne in there. It's just, that's just kinda how I am when I'm alone, I get weird. I get goofy and you know, I've had people in the past tell me or ask me like, what are you doing like when I see you from a distance talking to yourself and I go, it will come in handy one day. Like, you know, having these conversations alone by yourself, it will come in handy. Uh, people will think you're weird, but one of these days somebody is going to put me in a movie called Bloodshot. You get to do it on screen

Sam Heughan: You get the feeling he's definitely, you know, he's spent, he's a lonely guy. He spent a lot of time alone, you know, and I think he's, you can see that he needs some friends.

Lamorne Morris: Right. I do need friends, you know, hopefully I found them.
