I’m not convinced on how steve norrington didn’t like blade 2 he doesn’t like blade to be to barbaric thats why the 3rd blade movie wasn’t great in any way shape or form.blade 1 was instense yet brutal,blade 2 was barbaric,horryfing,brutal and intense and those movies are awesome.spin offs maybe coud be a good idea but if anyone has seen in the final minutes of blade:the series on spike tv episode 13 titled conclave,blade didn’t kill marcus van sciver,detective boone is still alive those are loose ends that haven’t been eliminated and if there were to be a blade 4,marcus nispel:the director of pathfinder,texas chainsaw massacre 2003 remake and friday the 13th 2009 remake could make the movie a wee bit more barbaric and i should have some involvement on the project

While I disagree with Rob that Blade 2 was bad, I do understand why he disliked it. I liked 2 most of all, followed by 1 and 3 was the worst of the lot. I did see the problems with the CGI in the fight Rob mentions but like OGB said, it was new at the time. Maybe they can do to Blade 2 what they did with Trek TOS and upgrade it.

i actually watched blade 2 the other day, i still like it. good fight scenes, I like the one in the club the best. I always liked the scene where the one vampire gets mobbed by all the new breed jumping out from the water.
The the CGI like OGB says, for the time was good, but now doesn’t look that good.

Yeah, that technology was still new at that time (where it’s a CGI character in an action sequence which ends with the real person finishing up the move). But it looked good for its time and they’ve done it better since. Torro knew what he was doing.

While we’re on special effects, how could you not like the new breed of vampires? The makeup/effects were outstanding. When I saw it in theaters, freaked me out.

All the costumes, stage sets, weapons, etc were done very well too. And all that combined it created a very dark, moody atmosphere that’s missing from Blade 1 and 3

If the fight scenes don’t do it, can’t change your mind, but I still don’t get it. The awesome 1 on 1 fight on the bridge? The crazy shoot out at the club? Those were fantastic.

Story too, I can’t tell you your opinion is wrong but compared to the “story” in Blade 3? I thought it was original and really well done (twists, etc.)

Reynolds was great in Blade 3 and saved it from being a complete disaster (his garlic fart joke makes me laugh every time)

Blade 2 special effects? lol, watch it again – especially the scene with the two vampires breaking into Blade’s base = horrible. The fight scenes didn’t do it for me either. Check out the FX on all of them.

As for Blade 2 story, I didn’t dig the new vampire breed and him teaming with a group of them, or the weird weak love story thing, or the Ron Perlman fight, or Norman Reedus’ character, etc…

But don’t get me wrong – the third movie is not good, and that’s clear in my article when I discuss its problems (hated Biel’s character). Unlike II, there are parts of it I dug mainly due to Snipes and Reynolds. I think its better than 2. Blade 1 is the one I legitimately liked all around despite some weird special effects and three was a mess as I say, but I didn’t mind Purcell as the bad guy.

Disliked the Second??? It was by far the best of the three. And the series was really good (except for the “good” vampire chick, and even what’s-his-face as Blade was starting to grow on me). The series had THE BEST villains – characters and actors. I don’t care who disagrees…

yea I agree the second was the best. I thought that Nomac was a bed villain than Frost and that Del Torro did a much better job with every aspect of teh movie. The fight scenese were great and not too far fretched, they gave Blade a love ineterest, and they overall did a solid job.

i enjoyed the second the most, i felt like out of all three it felt more like a comic book with the onslaught of vampire mutants coming out of the sewers, also i felt it had the most horror sense. the third was good, i felt that snipes was getting old, and isn’t an exceptional actor, although i wouldn’t want any one else to take over the role, but adding a emphasis on other characters in order to make a spin-off to me was a good idea.

Blade Trinity was absolutely brutal. Ryan Reynolds stole every scene. Can’t wait for the Deadpool movie.

First 2 blades were ok to good. it’s too bad they never went with Morbius for Blade 2.

And the Dracula actor was truly horrible.

Amen to the Crow soundtrack…one of the best I’ve heard.

Snipes and Blade are pretty much one in the same. IT would take some REAL talent to make the Blade franchise work without Snipes and I”m pretty sure Norrington is not the guy to do it.

I’m with you on Dorff. Not buying into this hype. He was a decent villain but nothing spectacular. We need a word on who’ll be the star, that’ll give us more info if this movie will be good/bad.

Rob, I’ve heard the “bullet time” thing about Blade before, but all I remember is Frost dodging badly animated bullets in slo-mo, which isn’t the same thing at all, surely? That said, I still love the movie now, but without a protagonist with Wesley’s presence and martial arts prowess I’m not hopeful about a spinoff. Too many vampire-related movies and TV shows in the last decade for this to stand out.

I just think that these ideas that Norrington is proposing, ie rebooting the Crow and Blade franchises are possibly the worst ideas I have ever heard from a director, and highlight Norrington’s limits as a filmmaker.

The first Crow was a brilliant film, the soundtrack alone would make me want to see it. I would hope that James O’Barr has some say in whether it get’s remade or not, but I doubt it. Won’t be seeing that, I dislike all of his films. They are just terrible.

The Blade franchise needs a reboot, but since Snipes is too old and in jail, and since the idea of prequels just sounds like Norrington has no clue as to what he wants to do.

Most of these ideas sound like direct to DVD rubbish.

Are there any original ideas left in Hollywood?

Blade 1 is a classic. I liked Blade 2 almost as much as the first, made you feel sorry for Blade when the hot female vampire turns to ashes in his arms.
Blade 3 was pretty bad. Parker Posey was obnoxious and Triple H did the worst acting job by a wrestler ever.
I am not however going to get excited about a Stephen Dorff vampire movie. His acting was one of the worst parts of Blade IMHO.

with the terrible directing and story, and oh wait lets not forget that triple H is in the movie as a retarded vampire,

the acting was terrible ryan renolds has done way better work then that piece of crap.

its almost as bad ass xmen 3, almost…….
