A Black Widow D23 concept art poster reveals the titular character's bold new costume along with what Red Guardian's ensemble looks like. Almost 10 years after her debut in Iron Man 2, Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) is finally getting her own movie. The production started filming earlier this year and was officially confirmed last month at San Diego Comic-Con. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige also confirmed the movie's release date, which is slated for May 1, 2020.

The film's timeline is set between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Instead of focusing on Natasha's upbringing, the plot will center on her going head-to-head with the Red Room program that initially trained her to be an assassin. Along with this intriguing plot, the film also boasts an incredible cast. Florence Pugh and Rachel Weisz are both playing Black Widows from the Red Room named Yelena Belova and Melina Vostokoff, respectively. Stranger Things' David Harbour is set to be playing Red Guardian, the Soviet's equivalent of Captain America. The film will also see Taskmaster as its main villain, but that casting remains to be revealed. Even though a trailer is still yet to be released, fans can now at least have a closer look at some of these characters' costumes.

Marvel Studios' Director of Visual Development, Andy Park, shared a photo to Instagram of an official D23 concept art poster that he painted for the upcoming film. He explained that the character is "very near & dear" to him and that this is the "gazillionth time [he's] concept designed/painted this iconic Avenger." He also praised the cast and crew and joyously exclaimed, "this is gonna be a good one!" The poster features Natasha, prominently front and center, and then shows Yelena to her right and Red Guardian to her left, with the other Black Widows trailing behind them and Taskmaster looming overhead. Check out the poster below:

Natasha's costume in Park's concept art poster takes several cues from her comic book origins, and it isn't the only one that she'll be sporting throughout the film. The costume featured in this poster was actually the second to be shown off during Disney's D23 Expo. At the Marvel Studios Booth, a white costume for Black Widow was on display on a mannequin. Though similar to Natasha's basic jumpsuit that she's worn throughout her appearances in the MCU, it also featured black accessories that included a belt, leg holsters, and wrist gauntlets.

The white costume was featured briefly during D23 footage while Natasha was in a snowy location, which could mean that the various costume changes are so the Black Widows can blend in with their respective environments. Considering Park's striking silver, black, and gold ensemble in the D23 poster, it could also just mean that Natasha's usual outfit from her appearances in the MCU could be getting an upgrade for her solo film. One thing's for certain, there's no denying that these costumes will be a fun switch for Natasha in Black Widow.
