‘Birdemic 2: The Resurrection’ Trailer

Today’s biggest hits are often big-budget spectacles like The Hunger Games and The Dark Knight Rises that utilize a combination of acting talent, compelling drama and a sharp visual aesthetic to craft a story that audiences can lose themselves in.

Then, there are other films that – despite an obvious lack of all of the above – remain entertaining for the sheer absurdity of it all. To many audiences, these films are so bad they’re good, and it is in this camp that Birdemic 2: The Resurrection clearly calls home.

Courtesy of IMDB, the first trailer for the sequel to 2010’s Birdemic: Shock and Terror (as discussed on our Screen Rant Underground podcast) is now available. “Master of the romantic thriller” James Nguyen returns to write and direct the film, as do original stars Alan Bagh and Whitney Moore.

Here’s an excerpt from the press release regarding the plot:

In this sequel to cult favorite ‘Birdemic: Shock and Terror,’ a flock of eagles and vultures wreak havoc amidst blossoming romance in Hollywood, California, leaving bloodshed and destruction wherever they hover. The story features original Birdemic survivors Rod and Nathalie, who are joined by new friends—struggling filmmaker Bill, aspiring actress Gloria, and several other Angelinos they encounter as they battle angry birds and a host of new enemies.

Fans of the original Birdemic should be happy to see that this sequel is just as campy as its predecessor, retaining the same tone and even the same low-tech look for the invading fowl. This is a smart move, as a film like this plays best with the cult following that has already embraced it. As for B-movie lovers who somehow missed out on the original film, this sequel is a good chance to hop onboard.

Birdemic 2: The Resurrection will premiere in November 2012 in select cities before expanding its theatrical run in early 2013. The production has even set up a website to raise marketing funds.

  1. I never quite managed to understand whether the original’s utter failure in all camps of cinematography was serendipitous or intentional, but here it’s pretty obvious they’re deliberately trying to go for the same level of terribleness just to milk that cow a little more; I am not impressed.

    • This even convinces me the first one was intentionally awful.

  2. this… is gonna be in theaters? why?

  3. reminds me of porns with plots, except these people cant act their way out of a wet paper sack.

  4. This movie cannot be taking itself seriously.

  5. I personally was a fan of the first movie, and not as a cult follower. I would give the cinematography about a 6 and the acting wasn’t too terrible. I think you’re all just failed actors that are mad someone else got their shot.

    • I hated the first movie because the acting was terrible, and please don’t call me a failed actor. Do you even know who I am?!?!?!?!?! I was Uncle Jesse in Full House. Does that mean anything to you?!?!?!?! I GUEST-STARRED ON AN EPISODE OF FRIENDS, DUNDERHEAD!!!!!!

      • John Stamos? No way! I love you, man. Especially that time you appeared on an episode of Franklin & Bash, my favorite show! #GetBashed Also, I hate Birdemic and totally didn’t laugh hysterically for the duration of the first movie

  6. The first movie changed my life. Everyone used to make fun of me cause I had a hot sister. But the first movie inspired to grow out of her shell. I was inspired to get huge. Now I have the largest pecs in the Chicagoland area. My friends even call me Major Pectoralis cause my pecs are ripped. Long story short, if the first movie could change my life, just wait til this movie comes out. Watch put ladies.

  7. Mr Stamos, full house was one of the most influential tv shows of all time. It taught me right from wrong and encouraged me to leve my house bc I didn’t go outside until i was 13. I was never good At anything like u and wish there was something I was good at. But that’s very good for you Adam. You sound like a class act.

  8. I love the first one,it made me laugh so hard when is the next one coming out?

  9. I just saw Birdemic:Shock and Terror at Rifftrax Live tonight. It seems, and I would hope, that Birdemic 2 was made tongue in cheek after reading all the reviews for the first one.

  10. Download the FREE app Birdemic 2: The Game. Only you Birdemic Warrior can save your friends from the avian onslaught!

  11. Are you people serious? First the moron pretending to be JOHN Stamos wrote “Jack”- any of you notice that? Second, I AM an indie horror screenwriter and i have to say this is the worst pile of cinematic garbage I’ve ever seen. It’s a waste of supporters money & everyone’s time. There is no direction with this film because the director is beyond being subpar, the acting is worse then a scripted reality show. This idea should never have been made period. You want a good movie? See SNOW SHARK or the forth coming DRY BONES…

  12. I can’t wait for this. I just saw the original one recently and found out there’s a sequel waiting for release. This trailer just seals the deal – I’m stoked!!

  13. JonTron needs to review this s***!
