probably because the game itself is so boring. ANd yes, I can’t think of any other broadcast where people can’t wait for the commericals to start and the broadcast to stop, except the super bowl.

They’ve not come out and said but like Vic says, I would expect them all to be new otherwise it’s not worth their while to fork out MILLIONS for a long trailer.

Generally brand new trailers premiere during the Super Bowl. It’s very expensive so studios don’t want to show stuff that’s already been seen.

Hey Rob, do you know if the trailers for movies that already have trailers out will be NEW trailers or will they be replaying existing trailers? This seems to be a little silly considering the premium price of Super Bowl advertising but the Hollywood studios frequently show us how ’silly’ they can be.

If they are going to show a new Star Trek trailer, I might actually record the spectacle (good idea Vic, I never thought enough about the whole thing to consider that) to check out the trailers at a later time.

*sidebar* Finally, we are going to get another great half-time show with Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band(the first in a long time being Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), after the Prince fiasco and the others before him (wardrobe malfunction, uh, right)which do not represent the fan base of those who truly watch and enjoy the superbowl.

Here in Canada, the broadcasters replace all the commercials and in-game billboards with their own ads which suck.

Vic, I usually record & watch only the ads (nice to know of another geek), but this year I’ll actually be with some friends watching the game for the first time in my life.

Nice to know that two movie houses consider marketing their top fare in this venue as “optional”
