Tony Stark really appealed to me when I first read the comic way back in the late 60's. He's a little like Bruce Wayne, a millionaire socialite, but he is a scientist and engineer as well as a smoothie who loves the company of women. He also wrestles with his conscience as he sees the transistors he has designed used for weapons development. The other impressive thing about the writing of his character is that he suffers from a weak heart, not something most super-hero's alter egos can claim. This fragility and reliance on the very transistors that he himself created is just one of the things that make this hero in my all-time top five. Then there's the TWO coolest suits in comicdom but i won't go on. Let me add my hopes to the general throng that this doesn’t suck.

I haven't heard about Happy being in the film. My guess would be: no. We've got Rhodey as the best buddy, Stane as the mentor, and Pepper as the quasi-romantic interest.
