By the time this is released I think the only people that will still be thinking John Stewart as GL will be the Cartoon Network fans of a few years back. Now that Hal has been on The Batman, Batman Brave & Bold, JL:Final Frontier, and his own animated film GL:First Flight this summer they have put the classic Green Lantern back front and center. From Super Friends to First Flight, from the Silver Age to today, Hal Jordan is the Green Lantern. It will be fun to see Guy, John, and Kyle in supporting roles later.

I don’t know if a full movie with Kyle is what they have in mind. This film is apparently going to be Hal’s origin story and have Sinestro before he is thrown out of the Corps. If they follow that line, the second movie will probably be about Sinestro’s fall from grace.
There’s just so much history to cover, it will be difficult to “pick and choose” what is going to be on the screen. If they bring in some of the DC team, some creative retconning could be in order. As much as I’d like to see a movie for each of the 4 Green Lanterns of Earth capped off with say….the Sinestro Corps War, I don’t know if that’s what WB has in mind.

(Let us pray- God, please let that be what WB has in mind….at least the Sinestro Corp War part.)

I’d like to see 3 separate movies with Hal, John, and Kyle all following connected story lines. I think that would allow access to a lot more of the Green Lantern universe. Then they could cap it all off with a Green Lantern Corp. movie.

I’m pretty excited to see how this will play out. Going with a tone similar to that of Iron Man (which I thought was a great film)is probably their best option for the first movie.

This should be good as it is a formula that seems to work well with origin stories. The first Superman movie worked the same way and is STILL a great movie. I am glad that they are not going all dark like TDK. Curious as to how they will merge the character if a JLA movie is made. I’m thinking that IF this movie is a success, one of the sequels will involve the introduction of Jon Stewart as GL.

Im definitely glad to hear about this news. I too am not a big reader of the comic but am a huge fan of the character. And to hear these tidbits is reassuring. After seeing Watchmen this week and Re Watching Dark Knight over and over and over again, I am very excited to see how WB brings the Green Lantern to the big screen.

I still feel going with Jon Stewart would compliment the stern brute nature of batman in the JLA. However Hal should work just fine with superman’s personality.
