‘Better Call Saul’ Teaser & Air Date Revealed

Published 8 months ago by

When AMC’s acclaimed series Breaking Bad concluded last year, the tale of Walter White came to an end. However, thanks to the upcoming spinoff Better Call Saul, the morally ambiguous world that the show created will live on through the eyes of Bob Odenkirk’s seedy attorney Saul Goodman.

Since it was first announced, the show has raised a number of questions. Would it be a sequel or prequel series to Breaking Bad? Will any of the first show’s characters appear? And, most importantly, when exactly can fans prepare to revisit the Saul character on his very own show? As it turns out, some more details regarding that last question has just been revealed.

AMC has just given fans their first peek at the new show (see above), with an all-too-brief glimpse at Saul chatting up an unseen figure about the necessity of lawyers. Yet, it’s the last frame of the TV spot that most fans will note, as it’s now official that Better Call Saul will hit the airwaves in February. We already knew that a 2015 premiere was in the cards (and that a season 2 was already being planned), and AMC’s slow burn method of marketing the show makes a great deal of sense.

After all, expectations are understandably high for the series, given its connection to one of the most critically lauded shows in recent memory. Plus, a fair number of skeptics are certainly wondering if a Saul spinoff even makes sense. This clip, while short, plays up the comedic aspect of the new series and is more in tune with what we’ve heard Odenkirk himself say about how Better Call Saul needs to establish right out the gate that it is “its own thing that hopefully is gonna be entertaining on its own terms.”

Better Call Saul Better Call Saul Teaser & Air Date Revealed

For a show that desperately needs to evade the impossible task of comparisons to its parent series, this short bit of footage goes a long way towards setting audience expectations and earning their goodwill several months before the actual show ever airs. It’ll be interesting to see how Better Call Saul fares with audiences and critics when it does arrive, but in the meantime, expect AMC to release a few more snippets like this one along the way.

  1. ha.. looking forward to it.

  2. Yeah, if ScreenRant would stop linking to US-only videos, that would be great.

    • Because they, and every website that links to a video, control where that video is and what restrictions it has. They post the official video that they are given, and if it has restrictions that’s not on them, it’s on whoever gives the video, so go complain to the source.

    • Either use proxy or Tor browser.

  3. More Bob Odenkirk on TV is never a bad thing.

  4. Oh boy, can’t wait!

  5. Always nice to have something anything so thanks
i know its call “teaser” but man i want more another 10 second or more please

  6. wow

  7. I’m one of those rare (yes indeed, my friends call me ‘weird’) people, that found the parts of Breaking Bad, better than the whole. Without question, one of those favorite parts was Bob Odenkirk’s brilliant performance.

Whereas Breaking Bad was a 75% drama to 25% comedy mix, Better Call Saul is apparently the reverse. Since Saul Goodman was the overwhelming majority of that 25%…that’s good news.

I do hope the rumors of it flashing to the past and post Breaking Bad present, are true.
But either way, this is something I’m eagerly anticipating.

  8. Even the teaser has geoprotected???
And the studios wonder why “piracy” is rampant.

  9. Even though we already know part of this will be a prequel the fact that Saul has a little more hair on his head than when we last saw him proves the fact and I also like the fact that the first clip we see has him telling a joke.
It’s a subtle way of telling us the show may be more of a comedy.

Here I go again. Only a 10 second clip and I’m dissecting it frame for frame.
Boy do I miss Breaking Bad. ;)
