Game of Thrones is one of the most popular shows on television right now. Almost everyone you know has talked about it at some point, and it’s pretty much all over social media, with the spoilers and memes.

Based on the books by George R. R. Martin (somewhat loosely, though, with most of the show’s recent material being drawn from outside the text), Game of Thrones centers around a bunch of noble families fighting over the Iron Throne (hence the name of the series), with some dragons and other cool monsters filling up the screen in between.

As the season seven comes to an end, we wanted to take a look at some of the awesome Game of Thrones cosplayers. Even if the series ends next season, we can still enjoy it through this art form.

This series boasts a huge cast of colorful characters, offering plenty of cosplay options, and these people bring them to life so beautifully, making it look so fun no matter how many Game of Thrones cosplayers we see at conventions these days.

With that, these are the 20 Stunning Game of Thrones Cosplayers Who Look Just Like Their Characters. The resemblance is uncanny.

20. Cersei Lannister

Cersei Lannister in the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. In addition to her deceased son, King Joffrey, she had two other children, Myrcella and Tommen, from her relationship with her twin brother, Jaime (too bad they died too – though this IS Game of Thrones, after all).

This cosplay by faerie_blossom is from the show’s earlier seasons, when Cersei was younger and had longer hair. The cosplay itself is already beautiful, with the flowing sleeves and intricate embroidery on the bodice, but the backdrop and the glass of wine in her hand really sells this as a set-worthy shot, taken by eosAndy.

Faerie_blossom is also known for cosplaying as Catwoman, Raven, Maleficient, and a Suicide Squad Harley Quinn version of D.Va.

19. Ygritte

You know nothing,Jon Snow. #gameofthrones #gameofthronescosplay #ygrittethewildling #ygrittecosplay Photograph: BowtiePix

A post shared by ❄️Yuki❄️ ☾Yuna☾ (@yuyu_cosplay) on

Ygritte was a spearwife, part of the Free Folk and living north of the Wall. She was a member of Mance Rayder’s army and Jon Snow’s love interest. She was a skilled archer who believed that wildlings and northerners should come together based on their shared ancestry, fighting against the White Walkers instead. She was a minor character, but an interesting one, nonetheless.

BowtiePix took this amazing shot of Ygritte, cosplayed by one half of YuYu Cosplay. Even with the cool winter colors, she looks bright and vibrant with her natural glow.

Yuki and Yuna are from Austria and also known for cosplaying from Fairy Tail, Sword Art Online, No Game No Life, Seraph of the End, and more.

18. Sansa Stark

Sansa is the Lady of Winterfell and the complete opposite of Arya. She actually enjoys sewing, poetry, and dancing, among other girly pastimes. She liked Joffrey and was excited to marry him at first, wanting to grow into a regal queen like Cersei someday, until she saw what a monster he was when he had her father executed. She’s grown up since then.

Alexander Chiu snapped this photo of Naoko Cosplay as Sansa. Look at that flowing cape! Her good wig choice adds an extra pop of color. The wolf fur on top of her cloak was a nice touch, too.

Naoko is from Germany and has been cosplaying since 2006. She is also known for cosplaying as Daenerys, Mystique, Megara, and Tinker Bell, among many others.

17. Margaery Tyrell

Marrying two Baratheon brothers made Margaery the rightful Queen Consort of the Seven Kingdoms, until Cersei had her and her family killed in an explosion. Unlike Cersei, Margaery was kind and could win the people over with her likeability. She even tried to evacuate everyone from the Great Sept of Baelor when Cersei and Tommen’s absences made her realize that something was wrong.

Xenia Shelkovskaya absolutely slays as Margaery. She already looks like her to begin with, but she captures Margaery’s friendly, flirty essence through her eyes and pose. This shot is gorgeous.

Xenia is a cosplayer, gamer and model from Russia. She is also known for cosplaying as Miss Marvel, Catwoman, Triss Merigold (The Witcher), and Morrigan (Dragon Age), among a variety of fantasy costumes.

16. Khal Drogo

Drogo was a warlord from the Dothraki and married to Daenerys for the first two seasons. He was aggressive and a brute in battle, but developed a softer side for Daenerys, protecting her and their unborn child from anything. He was even willing to face the Dothraki’s fear of saltwater to sail the Narrow Sea to claim the Iron Throne for his family.

King Tide Cosplay kills it as Khal Drogo, in this photo taken at MCM Comic Con in Manchester (he’s from the UK). King Tide was already featured in our DC Cosplayers list for his Aquaman cosplay, as part of a Justice League group.

Make that two characters played by Jason Momoa that he’s cosplayed now! Those appear to be his signature cosplays.

15. Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow

She’s the Mother of Dragons. He’s the King in the North. They appear to be working together as of season seven as the Prince and Princess that were Promised. And it’s possible they might get together by the end of the season?

Russian cosplayers Olya Bony and Selgis have good chemistry together as Daenerys and Jon Snow in this photo taken by Sergei Kick – maybe too good, given that she’s actually his aunt (there’s enough incest on this show – looking at you, Lannister House). Still, the cosplays are on point. Points for craftsmanship.

Jon Snow is Selgis’ main cosplay, while Olya is also known for cosplaying as Margaery Tyrell, Judy Hopps, and Gadget Hackwrench, in addition to multiple versions of Daenerys and other fantasy-inspired costumes.

14. Ellaria Sand

Ellaria is a background character in the books, but has a bigger role on the show. She is Oberyn Martell’s paramour, the mother of the four youngest Sand Snakes (plus Tyene on the show), and an ally to Daenerys. She is a decent support character who has her strong moments, such as when she kills Myrcella by kissing her while wearing poison-laced lipstick.

Anna Delle Vergini, also known as Southlab Cosplay, made this beautiful dress by hand, and it looks fabulous on her while suiting Ellaria. The detail on the bra piece is great, plus the bra piece itself fits into the dress’s frame nicely without taking anything away from it. It’s not an exact replica, but it’s very summery, so we still love it.

13. Bran Stark

'You will fly' #branstark #branstarkcosplay #gameofthrones #gameofthronescosplay #starkcosplay

A post shared by Ellie (@goggles_994) on

Bran is a warg and the Three-Eyed Raven. He uses this supernatural ability to help his family while they’re fighting a war against the White Walkers. He wants to be a knight of the Kingsguard one day, but right now he’s a prince, which is cool too. At only 16 by this point in the series, this kid’s been through some serious stuff.

Ellie, also known as goggles_994, is a cosplayer from the UK. She is also known for cosplaying as Tai from Digimon (multiple versions), Gadget Hackwrench from Chip n Dale: Rescue Rangers, and Doll from Black Butler: Book of Circus. But while her other cosplays are amazing, you can tell that she put a lot of work into this one – perfect for a prince.

12. Petyr Baelish

While he has the funny nickname of “Littlefinger,” Petyr does fairly well for himself for someone born from a minor, less powerful House, even if he has to murder the widow he knew from childhood and married along the way. He may be the only living member of his family, but he makes it work by aligning with several other Houses.

This is just a selfie of Sourwolf Bones Cosplay, but there’s still plenty of detail to pick up on in her cosplay. Sourwolf is from Germany and has been cosplaying since 2013. She is also known for cosplaying as Rick Grimes (The Walking Dead), Peter Hale (Teen Wolf), Prince Eric (The Little Mermaid), and Haruka Tenoh (Sailor Moon), among a variety of other characters.

11. Missandei

GoT shoot with Katya Perin #cosplay #missandeicosplay #missandei #gameofthronescosplay #gameofthrones #gotcosplay

A post shared by Trespass Cosplay (@trespasscosplay) on

Missandei was originally a slave interpreter in Essos, but now serves Daenerys as her advisor and handmaiden after she freed her, so they’ve grown to be good friends. After serving on her Small Council in the city, she sails with Daenerys on her quest to reclaim the Iron Throne. She speaks an impressive nineteen languages, making her a valuable asset to House Targaryen.

This is a simpler, but lovely cosplay made by one half of Trespass Cosplay, two Canadian cosplayers. She shot with photographer Katya Perin, with positive results. Her curls are so pretty – they look full, but natural. This is her signature cosplay, with her partner cosplaying as the mother of dragons herself. This works, because she fits right into the Game of Thrones universe!

10. Robb Stark

Been at SDCC as Robb Stark the past few days, tag me if you see me! #thenorthremembers #robbstark #robbstarkcosplay #gotcosplay

A post shared by Jesse Bonelli (@jesseplaysthepipes) on

The oldest Stark child and former King in the North, Robb had a pretty solid track record for winning battles, earning him the nickname “the Young Wolf.” Just because he’s dead now (he was killed at the Red Wedding), doesn’t mean that he’s off-limits to cosplayers. While some people like to do zombie versions of dead characters, you can never go wrong with the classic version.

Jesse Bonelli rocked this cosplay at this year’s San Diego Comic Con back in July. With his cape and the water flowing behind him, this is a great shot. Robb appears to be Jesse’s main cosplay right now, but he should keep going and do other characters, either from or outside of Game of Thrones, because that cosplay is on point.

9. Tyene Sand

Tyene Sand was one of the Sand Snakes, though she was only Ellaria’s daughter on the show. She was headstrong and would charge ahead in battle, with poisoned daggers as her weapons of choice. While one of the youngest, she was just as fierce as her sisters. To showcase that, Shutter Wolf Photography snapped this gorgeous photo of Andi Cosplay as Tyene.

Andi Cosplay is from Australia and has been cosplaying since 2009. She is also known for cosplaying as Hiro Hamada (Big Hero 6), Esmeralda (The Hunchback of Notre Dame), Moana, and Nico Yazawa (Love Live!), among plenty of other characters. This cosplay is cool because it has that combination of being half-thrifted, half-made from scratch. Plus, the daggers have some nice details on them.

8. Melisandre

Melisandre is a Red Priestess who worships R’hllor, the Lord of Light, with her powers based on prophecy. She was once a slave in Essos but became Stannis Baratheon’s advisor in his quest to take the Iron Throne. Once he was killed at the Battle of Winterfell, she brought Daenerys and Jon Snow together instead, believing that Jon is the “Prince that was Promised.”

Aska Jaros snapped this photo of Star Nacho as the Red Priestess. The cosplay is well-made and, of course, you can never go wrong with forest shots. This cosplay was actually upgraded from an original one she did last year.

Star Nacho is also known for cosplaying as Morrigan and Merrill from Dragon Age, as well as Jean Grey from X-Men.

7. Ramsay Bolton

Ramsay was the sadistic, sociopathic rival to the Stark family, though he somehow ended up marrying Sansa. He tortured and killed people just because it seemed like fun at the time. His reign of terror came to an end when Jon Snow defeated him in the Battle of the Bastards at Winterfell, his fate similar to that of Scar’s from The Lion King.

Much like some of the other characters included here, even in death Ramsay can still be appreciated through cosplay, and Julie, who goes by YellowCake Cosplay, made a solid effort with hers. The makeup in particular stands out because it gives us the creepy, psychotic vibe that Ramsay exudes.

Julie is also known for cosplaying as Fenris (Dragon Age) and Guzma (Pokémon Sun & Moon).

6. Shae

Shae was a prostitute who developed a relationship with Tyrion Lannister, until he tried to send her away for her safety but then had to kill her in self-defense. Between Tyrion being pressured into marrying Sansa Stark and Queen Cersei threatening him (apparently mistresses were a no-no in the Lannister House), there were a few misunderstandings between them towards the end of their time together.

Photographer Indranil Banerjee snapped this lovely photo of Amelia, also known as rey_dot_ham, as Shae. This dress is absolutely gorgeous, and this is a good shot on the stairs. She looks more like a princess than a prostitute.

Amelia is based out of Washington D.C. and is also known for cosplaying as Jessica Jones, Rey, Jean Grey, and a hipster version of Ariel.

5. White Walker

White Walkers are terrifying creatures. They’re ancient humanoid ice creatures from the Far North of Westeros. They were originally created to protect the Children of the Forest, but broke away and will now attack any living thing. While strong, powerful beings, they can still be killed with dragonglass or Valyrian steel, which will freeze them before their bodies start to crack and fall apart.

Koda Cosplay’s face is what makes this cosplay. The makeup had to have taken a lot of work, but he convinces us as an undead ice dude with the amount of detail he put in all over. Ecco’s Fantasy Photography was there to capture this pretty (scary) picture. Koda is also known for cosplaying McCree from Overwatch and Handsome Jack from Borderlands.

4. Tyrion Lannister

Tyrion Lannister, played brilliantly by Peter Dinklage, is the Lord of Casterly Rock and Hand of the Queen to Daenerys, previously the Master of Coin and Hand of the King to Joffrey (until he was framed for his murder). He’s definitely one of the more popular characters, so it was easy to find good Tyrion cosplayers. Unfortunately, this cosplayer is unknown to us, though the picture was taken by Mother of Pygmypuffs during this year’s Comic Con Stuttgart back in July.

The makeup with the scar looks great. It’s a simple cosplay, but he knocked it out of the park and still looks regal like a Lannister. Though taller, the cosplayer still poses a strong resemblance to Peter Dinklage, with his eyes and bushy hair.

3. Arya Stark

Arya is the tomboy in the Stark family, bored by women’s activities and preferring to carve her own path instead of marrying for influence and power. She trained with the Faceless Men to become one of the most skilled fighters on the show, much to her older sister’s surprise (and disturbance). This makes Arya another popular character in the franchise, with plenty of people cosplaying her.

Ksenia Perova is a Russian cosplayer also known for portraying Elizabeth Dewitt (Bioshock, Burial at Sea version), Clara Oswald (Doctor Who), Mavis Dracula (Hotel Transylvania) and Daria. However, her Arya Stark cosplay is probably one of her best, based on the shoot she did with Andrew (also known as allinthefire). This photo could have been taken from the actual set.

2. Joffrey Baratheon

On paper, Joffrey was supposedly King Robert Baratheon’s oldest son and heir, but he was actually a product of the incestuous relationship between Cersei and Jaime Lannister. Nevertheless, he actually sat on the Iron Throne for a few seasons, though he was eventually assassinated for being a cruel, sadistic tyrant – traits of his that only got worse once he ascended to the throne.

Azur Cosplay Photography took this photo of It’s Loki Cosplay as Joffrey. This cosplay has so much detail, from the coat to the crown, and the hair and makeup look great to boot. Loki is from Germany and is also known for cosplaying Rey (Star Wars), John Watson (Sherlock), Credence Barebone (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), and Athena the Gladiator (Borderlands).

1. Daenerys Targaryen

Everyone has seen the new Game Of Thrones trailer, yes?

A post shared by The Charming Violet (@thecharmingviolet_) on

Daenerys is (arguably) the coolest character in Game of Thrones, which is why she is represented twice on this list. She brought the world’s first dragons in centuries into the world, and convinced an entire people to cross the sea for her when they were otherwise too afraid to.

Australian actress Yvonne Strahovski, known for her roles in Chuck, Dexter, and The Handmaid’s Tale, performed as Daenerys in the Princess Rap Battle YouTube series with Whitney Avalon (who battled against her as Maleficient). While Yvonne has sharper, harder features than Emilia Clarke (who actually plays Daenerys), she still pulls off the cosplay well and owned that performance. To see how good she (and Whitney) are at rapping, follow the link above to see their match-up.
