A new comic will reveal more about the mysterious DJ just as he debuts in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The second Star Wars: Episode VIII trailer has already proven to be a hit, setting new records for movie trailer viewership within its first day of release. With only two months left before release, details about the Rian Johnson directed film will start to come at a steady clip.

A new TV spot also just arrived for The Last Jedi that offers some additional footage and dialogue. Despite the new videos, promotional materials, and toy details we've had lately, there's still a lot we don't know about the movie. Like The Force Awakens, the latest Star Wars film will introduce many new characters whose roles and backstory are mostly a mystery. We've only had a few glimpses of Amilyn Holdo, Rose, BB-9E, and the Porgs. Meanwhile, we haven't seen a single shot of Benicio Del Toro's DJ in action nor do we know how much of a role he has in the franchise. But don't fret.

CBR reports that a new comic is on the way from Marvel that will explore Benecio del Toro's character DJ just after he appears in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Check out the synopsis below, plus see a brand-new image of DJ in the film.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI - DJ #1 Synopsis

When STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI takes theaters in FORCE (get it?) this December, Star Wars fans will get a peek into some new dark corners of the Galaxy Far Away…and out of one of those corners scuttles DJ, the mysterious character played by Benecio Del Toro! Who is this mystery man, and what put him in the path of our Resistance heroes? Join Ben Acker & Ben Blacker (Star Wars Join the Resistance, Star Wars: The Last Jedi – The Storms of Crait) and Kev Walker (Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, Darkhawk) as they reveal a day in DJ’s life just before his appearance in the film!

Comedy writers Ben Acker and Ben Blacker have been making a name for themselves in the Star Wars world lately, and are already helping to provide more context for new planet Crait in The Last Jedi (the planet where we see the new First Order Walkers assaulting a Resistance base). Their latest comic will offer some insight into DJ, whose backstory has remained frustratingly vague up to this point. Of course, all that secrecy means nothing juicy is likely to be revealed before the film is released. As such, the comic will likely just be a way to provide more context and give die hard fans something extra.

For a character so wrapped in mystery, however, Lucasfilm hasn't been shy about including DJ alongside all the other characters in their marketing efforts. He already has his own action figure and he has a Funko Pop! vinyl as well. In fact, a sleuthing fan who bought the Funko of DJ even thinks they've uncovered the meaning behind the character's name. Whatever the truth is about DJ, hopefully the mystery will be worth the wait. Luckily, The Last Jedi is right around the corner.
