The approach of Fall brings about many seasonal treats: Pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup, pumpkin beer, pumpkin soap, pumpkin lotion… pretty much anything pumpkin. Luckily (the veritable pumpkin buffet aside), it also means that, for the sixth year in a row, we will receive the newest installment in the Saw franchise, Saw VI. In the usual “Saw” fashion, things are being kicked off with the return of their highly successful annual Saw Blood Drive.
Since the original Saw movie in 2004, Lionsgate has teamed up with the American Red Cross for a special ad campaign associated with the popular horror franchise. Over the past six years, Saw film-goers have donated over 80,000 pints of blood which has helped to save over 350,000 lives.

As in previous years, the ad campaign is being led by the infamous Saw nurses. While the Saw VI nurse posters were released last month, today we get to take a glimpse behind the scenes of the photo shoot.
Check out the video below to see Tim Palen (Co-President of Film Marketing for Lions Gate) work his magic with new Saw VI nurse model, Katherine MacDonald.
Whether or not you’re a fan of the Saw series, it’s always nice to see a successful franchise such as Saw make use of their popularity to benefit the American Red Cross.
Saw VI will be in theaters on October 23, 2009.

I, personally, can’t watch these types of movies, but that poster is FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!! I was a professional tattoo artist for 11 years before I became a full-time mom and saw a lot of bondage art and this is by far the coolest I can remember.
As far as the blood drive, it really touches my heart as I have a daughter who had to be on a heart and lung by-pass for the first 25 days of her life and it takes a lot of blood to run those machines. I am very grateful to anyone who promotes or gives blood.

DOes ECMO ring a bell.. Was your daughter on ECMO for the first 25 days of her life? SHe must have been really ill to need that type of life support for that long…I hope she did okay!!

Yes she was on ECMO, she had a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia with only 9% lung volume. Her surgeon is world renowned and he is very confident but he was worried she might not make it, but she’s a tough guy and fought hard. She is still on O2 and is fed by G-tube, but she has been well at home. Her main concern now is Pulmonary Hypertension and, of course, getting any kind of respiratory illness as colds can put her in the hospital.
She’s still got a long road ahead of her esp. with her physical and mental development due to the fact that she was on her back for the whole 15 months. At 2 she is only just now sitting up without having to prop herself up.

No matter how cheesy this franchise is getting, you gotta give them props for helping out. It would be nice if more franchises did something good and worthwhile for a change.
