Empire had the chance to go behind the scenes on the production of Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass and interview the director and most of the key cast members including Mark Strong, Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Aaron Johnson.

I don’t know if this was just a particularly good day of working on the project for the actors and director of it actually was an incredibly fun and jovial experience to make this film as everyone seems to get along very well and there’s nothing but laughter and jokes from those involved. Check out the very cool and relatively funny video blog and see some hints of what may be in store for moviegoers come April:

You can certainly see the British roots here for the casting of the main villain and main hero but Vaughn does explain how he ended up not going with an American actor for the title role.

Kick-Ass, based the comic-series of the same name written by Mark Millar and illustrated by John Romita, Jr., is one of Screen Rant’s most anticipated movies of 2010 and it’s hype is due in no small part to director Matthew Vaughn taking it upon himself to make the movie his own way, the proper way, without the restrictions of Hollywood studios. Instead he made it true to the comics, earned the support of the fans with a huge presentation at Comic-Con and had distributors start a bidding war for it after the fact.

Kick-Ass opens in the UK April 2, 2010 and in North American theaters on April 16, 2010.
