In recent years, Walt Disney Pictures has taken to adapting their animated classics catalogue to live-action, courting high-profile actors and filmmakers to projects like Tim Burton’s Maleficent – which starred Angelina Jolie in a new interpretation on the Sleeping Beauty story – Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella, and Jon Favreau’s The Jungle Book. The Mouse House has seen plenty of commercial and critical success in both their faithful adaptations as well as those that put a new spin on the classic tale and, as such, the studio has a number of other similar projects in the pipeline.

The next animated-turned-live-action feature to hit theaters is Beauty and the Beast early in 2017. From director Bill Condon, the film will make some changes to the 1991 animated classic, but will utilize many of the same aspects – including Alan Menken’s Academy Award-winning soundtrack. Recently, it seemed audio of Emma Watson singing as Beauty and the Beast’s Belle had leaked via a tie-in doll, and now Disney has released an official clip.

The verified Beauty and the Beast Twitter account debuted a 30-second clip of Watson singing “Something There”, a song originally written by Menken for the 1991 animated film. Take a listen:

In the original ’90s movie, “Something There” marks a turning point for Belle when she begins to realize there is more to the Beast than meets the eye – and they begin to fall in love. In the animated film, the song is laid over a scene in which Belle teaches Beast to be gentle while feeding seed to birds. Although it doesn’t seem an exact adaptation of this scene has made it into the live-action Beauty and the Beast, based on the trailers there is something similar – with Belle wearing a red cloak that fans of the animated feature will recognize.

Still, Watson’s rendition of “Something There” will likely please diehard fans of the original soundtrack – on which the song was sung by Broadway actress Paige O’Hara – given how similar it is. Additionally, it’s a reminder of why Menken won the Academy Award for Best Original Score as well as Best Original Song, although the latter was for the title track, “Beauty and the Beast”.

That said, this clip of “Something There” is only a small snippet of what fans can expect considering the movie’s soundtrack contains even more well known songs like “Beauty and the Beast”, “Gaston”, and “Be Our Guest” – with still more music since Menken is composing new tracks for the live-action Beauty and the Beast. Still, if the remainder of the soundtrack for Disney’s upcoming adaptation of a beloved animated classic stays as true to the original as this clip of “Something There”, fans can expect a lineup of songs that faithfully honor the 1991 film.
