Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams what are you trying to recreate the notebook?
I think Leodardo DiCapprio would make a perfect Jay Gatsby I think he’ll be able to portray the mysterious aura of Gatsby and capture the viewers sypathy.

I think Leo would be a perfect Gatstby…Ive always thought so actually, and Jake Gyllenhall would make a good Nick (imho) Im not sure about Daisy but Anne would be great for Jordan!!

Why remake “The Great Gatsby”? It’s been done so many times – I think there are four different film versions. Director Jack Clayton was dissed for his direction that starred Robert Redford and Mia Farrow. (Film critics were incensed that THE great American novel was directed by an Englishman.) I read this Fitzgerald classic every year and always take away some fresh epiphany. I thought Clayton’s fim was a mirror image of the novel, unbeatable.

Leo would be great for Gatsby, but totally wrong for Nick. Nick needs to be very un-glamorous to bring the midwestern everyman element into the narration. Carey is a great choice for Daisy. Hope he does as good a job casting Tom.

Firstly, I must say that I am terribly excited about the remake as it is a literary treasure. Dicaprio could very easily surprise us as Gatsby, the truth is he never disappoints. Maguire as Nick is a very interesting choice, he would do justice to the role, Kruger would make a perfect Daisy but I think that Januray Jones from Mad Men also suits the part. Luhrmann is a unique artist so I look forward to his overall interpretation.

I do like Dicaprio, but I have a hard time seeing him as Gatsby. Maybe he could pull it off, but I think Christian Bale is the best suggestion so far. Gatsby needs to have a sort of reserved yet vulnerable persona that Bale could pull off more naturally that might be somewhat contrived by Leo. As for Nick, he needs to be a guy that is easily overlooked, guy next door, with an older soul, yet still somewhat innocent – NOT TOO GOOD LOOKING-I think Toby McGuire could really do Nick Justice. As for the gals there are many choices, but I hope they stay true to the book and cast actors that are not over 30 or yet over 40 (Naomi Watts!! What are you thinking!). Youth is vital to the story and I hope that is taken into account. Also, a brutish large Tom would be much appreciated.

DiCaprio is good for Gatsby, but he seems way too old to play Nick.

I think Shia Labouef would play a good Nick Carraway. And DiCaprio would be an excellent cast to play Gatsby. He (Dicaprio) has shown that he can play that macho leading man role (the departed, blood diamond) while being a huge box-office draw.

I thinks DiCaprio would be a great Gatsby. Kate Hudson should be Daisy. She looks really similar to the Daisy that was cast as in the previous movie. As for Tom, he should be more bulky than the Tom in the other movie. I think Nick should look similar to DiCaprio but a little more “next-door” type. I would love seeing this movie remade. Looking forward to it! When is this all planned to start?

Gatsby wasn’t the antagonist in the novel, he was just a love-struck fool. Daisy’s husband was clearly the antagonist, especially being the cheater…
