Whenever there is a remake, a lot of changes are made between the original and the new. Different actors playing the same characters, or even entirely different characters. If the story is updated, than modernized technology has to be incorporated in. When a TV show is remade as a film, there is also the different format to consider. When it comes to the remake of Baywatch, the entire tone of the story has changed. While the series was a drama -- similar to a procedural -- the film is clearly a comedy.

That doesn't mean the stakes aren't as high this time around. There may be a lot more jokes being told in the movie version of Baywatch, but it is still life or death for the lifeguards. Not to mention the bystanders on the beach. And while it would not be Baywatch without a few near drownings, the real danger this time around is coming from night club owner and drug trafficker Victoria Leeds, played by Priyanka Chopra.

Baywatch star Dwayne Johnson took to Twitter to share a trailer that focuses on Chopra's evil character, and to issue her a warning about messing with him and his lifeguards.

Warning to the evil @PriyankaChopra, you don't wanna f*ck w/ the Avengers of the Beach. We WILL get dysfunctional @Baywatchmovie MAY 25th pic.twitter.com/soKWw4MZki— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) April 25, 2017

The trailer opens with an intense rescue scene. A boat on the water has gone up in flames, and a woman is trapped. Johnson's character Mitch Buchannon heads out to make a spectacular save, aided by Zac Efron's Matt Brody. Buchannon dives into the water and swims under the flames, only for his rescue mission to hit a snag -- Brody does not understand the hand signals Buchannon is communicating with. Somehow, Buchannon manages to pull of a pretty epic rescue anyway.

On the beach, Buchannon introduces Leeds to the other lifeguards. She flirts pretty hard with Buchannon, letting him know that he has a standing invite to her club. The next few clips detail her criminal activities, including drug trafficking and pointing a gun at someone. Buchannon confides to Brody that her arrival coinsides with all the trouble now happening on the beach. Brody isn't worried, and the conversation takes a not safe for work turn.

Playing the villain will be something new for Chopra, who is best known to American audiences for her more heroic role in ABC's Quantico. While she's a huge start internationally, Baywatch may prove to be the film that makes her a household name in the U.S. From the looks of this trailer, that very well may be the case.
