Based on the original hit television series that originally aired on NBC in 1989, Baywatch is all set for a big budget feature film treatment starring Hollywood heavyweight Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Zac Efron (Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising) in the lead roles. Despite being intially cancelled after only one season on the air, the original series featuring David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson went on for another ten years - and even spawned its own spin-off series in 1999, in the form of Baywatch Hawaii.

Enter director Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses), who is the filmmaker tasking with giving the Baywatch property a big screen, 21st century makeover. Ahead of the Baywatch movie's theatrical release in 2017, plenty of details - including confirmation that both Hasselhoff and Anderson will be making special appearances in the Baywatch movie - have already made their way online. Now the film has also gotten a fresh pair of holiday-themed posters.

First posted to the official Baywatch Twitter account, the two Halloween-themed posters feature Johnson and Efron alongside their co-stars in full holiday regalia and the tagline "So hot it's scary. #Boowatch." Like the Baywatch Father's Day-themed poster from earlier this past summer, the marketing campaign being employed here mirrors embraces a decidedly tongue-in-cheek approach. Gordon has proven himself to be a reliable draw at the box office with his past mainstream comedy directorial efforts - and earned some critical respect for his work on the ABC sitcom The Goldbergs - but only time will tell how well he manages turning Baywatch into an entertaining R-Rated raunchy action/comedy. With any luck, the movie will hit its mark with Johnson and Efron's collective fanbase - and the addition of original Baywatch stars Hasselhoff and Anderson may help to provide enough incentive to further attract moviegoers who aren't so crazy about the prospect of the Baywatch property getting the reboot treatment.

Johnson certainly has his plate full, seeing as he plays roles in Fast 8Baywatch and Jumanji (the latter of which is currently filming) - all of which are scheduled to hit theaters in 2017. If all goes well though, 2017 will be another wining year for the Hollywood all-star. Joining The Rock onscreen in his efforts to turn Baywatch into a hit modern-day hit movie is not only Efron, but also Johnson's San Andreas costar Alexandro Diddario, as well as Quantico lead Priyanka Chopra and Hannibal Buress (Neighbors 1 & 2), among others.
