Battlestar Galactica Season 4.5 Air Dates Announced

viper battlestar galactica Battlestar Galactica Season 4.5 Air Dates Announced

Way back in April, I surmised that the final “Cylon” in Battlestar Galactica was all of humanity.  And you, our readers responded as one with many awesome theories.

In early June, I posted the tale of how the Sci-Fi Channel was splitting the 4th season in half.  In that post, I only posted 1/2 of a Viper image.  As you see, I’ve got the whole image here now to celebrate the airing of the rest of the paused season.  It will be whole.

If we all remember, the mid-season semi-finale showed us the Colonial fleet finding what they have led us to believe was Earth.  (Oh, did I just say that?)

The vapor schedule for Battlestar Galactica that we have been tolerating from the Sci-Fi Channel since June has been released.  We finally have dates for the final half of the 4th season of BSG.

Battlestar Galactica will be returning to the airwaves on Jan 16th, 2009 and will finally conclude the 4th and final season of this block-buster series with a 10-week run that will culminate on March 20th, 2009.

As Aaron Douglas put it, “Sci-Fi has the best ideas on how to alienate their audience, in the history of TV… they’ve written the handbook.”

So let’s hope they don’t split these last 10 episodes into two 5-episode mini-seasons on us!

Damn, Amazon had a sale on their digital video on demand service where you could have bought seasons 1-3 of this show and a few others for $5 each for the entire season. I’m not a fan of this show, but was going to post that for people who were. But I just checked and the deal is over, damn.

They did, however, have House, I bought all of those, lol. It’s pretty cool, you can download it to 2 computers and 2 portable devices. But something tells me you can just burn the downloaded movies on a DVD, but you’re not supposed to do that, then it will be pirating. But the episodes are like 850mb each, so for me to download all 4 seasons of House would have been over 50gb, lol. So I guess I’ll watch them and download the seasons as I come to them instead of storing them all on my hdd.

790 – that’s been my gripe for the last year, this whole 4.0, 4.5 nonsense.

Knowing Sci-Fi, it could be 4.0, 4.25 and 4.50 with Bruce’s two 5-episode mini-seasons idea. Of course, each would cost $60.

    This just in–
Sci Fi Channel has decided they can reach a wider audience and keep fan interest longer, by formatting the final half of the final season into 5-minute webisodes.

Called “The Final Fives,” they will be released on Mondays starting on April 1, 2009 and ending on April 1, 2009.

Rob!! No! The $60 would be to just HOLD the option to order the 6 part of season 4!!

Sci-Fi has done a dastardly deed with such a high profile show, but with people knowing they will get what they want, the noise will subside once it starts.

    Sadly.

With the gradual deterioration of cable TV, stunts like this one, advertising interfering with and playing within the show, they’re driving people to other venues for entertainment. If it keeps going like this, theaters might see some return of the once bemoaned cable audience. Talk about killing the golden goose..

Old Man , I don’t think they have a choice. The Writers Strike caused a rift in the tv continuum.

This season split was already planned back in ’07. The writers strike was just a well timed excuse to toss out there.

If they had come clean about that from the get go, I wouldn’t be so miffed about this kerr-rap.

LOL. 790 of people surveyed, 57% report seeing 2-6 films a month. Kinda makes me wonder, you know.

Speaking of strikes, could a SAG strike cause the network to interlace repeat showings, season 4 with 4.5 episodes? Doing this every other week for a few weeks then stretch new episodes to 2 weeks in between them with some specials. May not see the last episode till next June..

    UH… Just kidding. :(

LOL Milton. Did you miss the paragraph that said:

Battlestar Galactica will be returning to the airwaves on Jan 16th, 2009 and will finally conclude the 4th and final season of this block-buster series with a 10-week run that will culminate on March 20th, 2009.

In that, I imply that it starts Friday the 16th, and runs every Friday until Friday, March 20th.

Seemed clear to me, but I was inside my own head. I should have been clearer!

    Thanks for pointing that out.
