If they were going to atually mimic the game, it should have something to do with two opponents somehow directing or calling the strategic shots as far as controlling the actions of the two fleets. Maybe some kind of automated robotic fleet or just controlling battle plan of each fleet. Then it would be like the Battleship game.

Your oh so right Stephie!

I read your reply and got to wondering what people thought of Electronic battleship. Mixed reviews on Amazon. I guess the one that comes in the green box is better and the “Star Wars” version is overall a little less worthy of either title.

Although they have been able to profit from their forays with licensing and a payday from “Transformers” & “GI Joe,” Hasbro has taken enough hits in the tween market to drop out and sales have been off due to the economy. Additionally India has put a ban on toys made in China, locking Hasbro out of a substantial income share possibly as high as 25% including revenues from Transformer & GI Joe toys there. They need new income streams and I think they would like Battleship to be their next “Transformers.”

Aliens and robots are easy bad guys to sell world wide, so this news should come as no surprise. Hasbro also makes the Martian Matter Alien toy line as well, and have agreements with Marvel too. Don’t be surprised if their isn’t a comic book tie in down the line. Remember you heard it first here…

I think the pegs go on the lower part of the game board and the part of the board which is facing you. It’s been a LONG time since I’ve played Battleship, so I may be a tad rusty.

The idea of non-corporal aliens taking over a fleet of war vessels and engaging in a battle against an American fleet might sound like a rather lame idea for a movie, but if you can have cowboys and Native Americans fighting against aliens — the premise of the upcoming “Cowboys and Aliens” — anything’s possible.

Fail fail fail… reading the headlines I thought the Battleship film idea was gonna get dropped… instead we’re gonna get aliens attacking military vessels… might as well throw in alien jetskis or USO (unidentifiable sailing/surfing objects) to the script. LAME!

Hmm non-corporal aliens take over a fleet of war vessels and battle an American fleet? Yeah pretty weak idea for a movie, still to get two fleets of modern sea going ships to battle each other so we can experience a bunch of mayhem, explosions, and pretty effects is any worse than “Transformers?”

I have an idea: how about “Snakes and Ladders” as a movie?

Like, it might happen on a plane or something, and there are snakes, and they have to like, take this ladder down into the luggage compartment, but the snakes are everywhere…

I can see it now, maybe have some big action star in it, like, oh, maybe Samuel L. Jackson?
