Comic-Con 2015 is now wrapped, and the star of the show this year was no doubt Warner Bros. and their DC movie universe (or “DC Extended Universe, as director Zack Snyder has termed it). Not only did fans in in Hall H get to see the first trailer for the highly-anticipated villain team-up film, Suicide Squad, they (and the rest of the world) finally got to see the full trailer for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The Batman V Superman trailer has inspired a lot of questions that need answering, but until the film hits theaters, fans around the Internet are having their bit of fun, making some fun (or scathing) parody vids and mashups to continue the fun. In addition, we have another official look at a part of the trailer that has gained a lot of attention: Ben Affleck’s Batman on mission in a desert, wearing a version of his costume that we here at SR kindly refer to as, “Batman of Arabia.”

The Instagram photo above comes from Batman V Superman set photographer Clay Enos (via Coming Soon) and gives us a better look at this version of Batman’s costume in the film. Based on the chin, it also looks like we’re seeing Ben Affleck in the photo; the fight scene between “Batman of Arabia” and the Superman guard that we glimpsed in the actual trailer looked like it had a stunt performer standing in for Affleck. See for yourself:

Some of speculated that this costuming is Batman’s attempt to infiltrate the Superman guard by wearing their outfits as a disguise. Fair assessment, perhaps – but why Batman would be sneaking around in his Batman costume and cowl eludes me. For my money, this is more likely the Batman that comic and cartoon fans know – ready with different tactical modifiers for his costume. Frozen terrain…  Desert terrain… The Bat tends to be prepared. In any event, the infiltration clearly doesn’t go smoothly – and this particular modified costume runs the risk of getting more parody than praise, with some fans.

Man of Steel / Batman V Superman Metropolis Battle Mashup

Starting off with perhaps the coolest of the videos so far, video editor James VanFleet has done the speedy job of cutting together the scenes of Superman and General Zod’s Metropolis battle in Man of Steel with the newly revealed footage of that battle from Batman/Bruce Wayne’s perspective, seen in the latest Dawn of Justice trailer. The resulting mashup shows that director Zack Snyder and his team are pretty on point when it comes to continuity between the films.

Batman V Superman: (Not) Friends

Getting a bit sillier, video editor David Johns has continued the proud tradition of mashing up popular trailer or title sequences with the popular TV series Friends. Given the clash of philosophies that are at the center of Batman V Superman, Johns gets the added fun of twisting the entire friends premise into a show called (Not) Friends. As an added bonus, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman gets a moment to shine.

Batman V Superman V Shia LaBeouf

Finally, keeping with a more recent trend, we get the Batman V Superman Comic-Con trailer mashed up with actor Shia LaBeouf’s epic green screen motivational speech. The resulting parody mashup makes some pretty witty use of LaBeouf’s narration, in relation to the thematic overtures of Batman V Superman. In such cases, timing and restraint are pretty much everything, and the folks over at Coalter Video do a pretty good job with both.
