Since Marvel Studios will not be holding a panel in the infamous Hall H this year at Comic-Con International, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are taking this opportunity to put their upcoming comic book films front-and-center. On Saturday, the cast of Batman V uperman: Dawn of Justice along with its director Zack Snyder will be featured in WB’s big presentation, but the studio is also using other methods to win over fans.
Yesterday, four costumes from Batman V Superman were shown off on the convention show floor, drawing huge crowds of eager fans. Not only did the displays allow fans to get a closer look at the new suits for Batman (including the armored one), Wonder Woman and Superman, but they also unveiled several previously unseen elements from the film, including the new batarangs to a newly created “tech cowl” for Batman.
WB still has plenty of surprises in store for its panel on Saturday (likely including the recent news of Ben Affleck directing the solo Batman movie), but there’s more for attendees unable to make it into Hall H. Deadline reports that Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent themselves, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, respectively will be at the DC Entertainment booth at some point during the convention to sign autographs for those who are able to swing by.
It’s still not clear however, when this signing might take place. The possibilities so far are said to be Friday night or the following Saturday, after the WB panel. It’s also unconfirmed whether or not Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot will be giving out autographs as well, although the report does mention there’s a chance.
With Marvel seeing much success (and overflowing show floor crowds) from major signings in previous years which include the Ant-Man and Avengers: Age of Ultron casts last year, and Robert Downey Jr. the year prior, WB would be smart to keep the hype (and social media trends) flowing with two of their biggest celebrities making a public appearance. The suits on display alone have already been enough to enthrall those who were lucky enough to get up-close.
Given that it’s still the beginning of the con and WB hasn’t had their panel yet, there’s still plenty more to come in the coming days for the future of the DC movie universe. If they can continue to stun fans as they have thus far, Warner Bros. may come away as the “winner” of this year’s Comic-Con, as they say. They do however, have to beat Disney’s Star Wars and Fox’s X-Men/Fantastic Four presentations.
