Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice may have been the follow-up to 2013’s Man of Steel, but it was Ben Affleck’s take on Batman that had most critics buzzing. The older, wearier Batman who has seen his share of destruction and war was unlike any we’ve seen before, despite still retaining his boyhood charm. The character was also made larger than life thanks to the grandness of Zack Snyder’s overall vision for the film.

Still there were a few similarities and reminders of the Batman we’ve come to know and love. Bruce Wayne’s confidant Alfred Pennyworth played a very important role in the film, alongside the memory of his deceased parents. The Batsuit and Batmobile were also present in the film, though both were updated to be sleeker, stronger and more modern. Even the Batcave got an upgrade with the latest technology, while the Wayne mansion was left to crumble in the dust.

For those who have seen Batman V Superman, the wonder of the Batcave probably left a big impression. Now newly released concept art created by Ed Natividad and posted on Concept Art World allows fans to go behind the scenes of Batman’s home base. Check them out below:

In a previous video tour of the Batcave, production designer Patrick Tatopoulos explained that all the tables and walkways were attached to the ceiling on purpose to emulate the feeling of being suspended above ground like a bat. In the last concept art you can see how the Batmobile is on a hanging driveway, while other bases of operation are embedded into the walls. Both of these elements are just what you’d expect to see from someone who has created a lair within a cave.

Of course, no Batcave is complete without also having a place to store your Batmobile and Batarangs. The Batmobile hanger looks like an all purpose garage, complete with various tools hanging on the walls and a damage report screen that analyzes any problems with the Batmobile. The Batcave also seems to have an armory to hold all Batman’s weaponry and gadgets. It’s a one stop shop for grabbing extra arsenal for the Batsuit. On the outside, you’d never know that hiding underground, below Wayne Manor is not only a Batcave but also a garage and armory. Batman has been working for years before the events of Batman V Superman, but it’s still spectacular to see what the artists and designers created for this new, modern superhero.
