Warning! Potential spoilers for Batman: Urban Legends #7 by DC Comics below

Batman One Million is returning to the pages of DC Comics with a brand-new look. In a new promo image for the upcoming Batman: Urban Legends #7, the Dark Knight of the far future gets a notable costume change for his upcoming story, trading in his darker ensemble for a more silver look and longer bat ears.

In Grant Morrison and Val Semeiks crossover series, DC One Million, the alien Batman of the 853rd Century made his first appearance. Batman, whose real identity is unknown, grew up on Pluto, which was turned into a prison harboring the most dangerous criminal in the universe. He watched his parents (who were guards) die under a fascist regime that sensed a rebellion was coming. So he took up the mantle of Batman to make sure a similar tragedy never occurred and was inspired by the hero from hundreds of years before his time.

Kenny Porter, who's writing the newest Batman One Million story as part of Batman: Urban Legends #7, shared Baldemar Rivas' artwork for the comic. Porter teased the new costume by asking, "what secrets does the newly revamped #BatmanOneMillion suit hold?" alongside the image of the character's new digs. The changes to his former suit include a new helmet, a thicker chrome bat logo across his chest, and a lighter cape. All in all, the design looks pretty sleek.

Here's Batman One Million's old look for reference.

There hasn't been a ton of information revealed about the upcoming story but solicits revealed Batman One Million oversees the prison on pluto and will deal with a jailbreak from some very dangerous inmates. Batman: Urban Legends #7 will also feature a story about Cassandra Cain as Batman getting hunted by the Magistrate and a new Batman Beyond chapter focusing on the future Batman trying to track down Bruce Wayne's killer in Neo-Gotham after finding his body in his Batcave. The creators for the issue include Porter, Rivas, Jackson Lanzing, Collin Kelly, Max Dubar Sebastian Cheng, and Aditya Bidikar.

While it will be fun to see Terry McGinnis and Cassandra Cain back in action, Batman One Million is really a character who hasn't had many appearances in the comics and is ripe for further exploration. With a new look, it seems Batman: Urban Legends is the perfect place to refamiliarize readers with the far-future version of Batman and allow the hero's story to continue growing. Batman One Million will be back in action when Batman: Urban Legends #7 comes to comic book stores on September 27.
