Josh Stewart Joins ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Cast

The Dark Knight Rises already has a sterling lead cast, anchored by Christian Bale as Batman, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, and Tom Hardy as Bane, but you can’t have a truly great movie without a truly great supporting cast.

So far, The Dark Knight Rises is winning in that department as well, bringing back Michael Caine as Bruce Wayne’s faithful servant Alfred and Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, along with newcomers Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard. That’s not including interesting character actors such as Matthew Modine and Israeli actor Alon Aboutboul.

Today¬†Variety reports that The Dark Knight Rises has added another supporting actor to its cast in the form of The Collector star Josh Stewart. It’s unclear who Stewart will play at this point, but it’s likely that he will play either a criminal or cop (two types of minor roles that The Dark Knight Rises will have in spades).

For those unfamiliar with Stewart, you may have seen the 34-year-old actor in David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, or on TV, with featured roles in NBC’s Third Watch or ABC’s No Ordinary Family.

Anticipation for The Dark Knight Rises is running at an all-time high, and it’s no wonder why. The third film in the series promise some big-time brawling between Batman and one of his biggest and baddest enemies (and judging from the first-look at Hardy in character, Bane will definitely be big). TDKR is also¬†supposed to bring the entire trilogy full circle back to Batman Begins.

I would say that it’s a lofty task, but under Christopher Nolan’s steady leadership I fully expect The Dark Knight Rises to deliver. When the director’s previous films in the series grossed more than a billion dollars and earned near-unanimous critical praise, it’s easy to be optimistic.

What do you think of the cast of The Dark Knight Rises so far? Where do you think an actor like Josh Stewart could fit into the film?

The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters on July 20, 2012.

    • Any TDKR news is welcomed lol :D

      • Umm ok….

  1. This movie is the reason I keep visiting this site.

    Keep it coming.

  2. Andreas…

You’re either kidding (tastelessly), or you’re a bigoted ass.

    • @Archaeon – I agree and have removed her comment entirely.

      • Paul…

        Thank you.

        All others…

Disregard my above comment, since there is, of course, no more reason for it.

    • Let’s hope he’s kidding… When I read that comment I cringed, but if not, #banhammer

      • I always miss the good stuff lol.. :D

  3. Oh my god! Random actor joins big movie production! Shout it from the rooftops!

    • DSB, you really should check out The Collector. :)

      • Never even heard of it before. But will look it up.

  4. Jean-Paul A.K.A Azrael nough said.

    • Josh Stewart is Jean-Paul Valley, without the blond hair!!!
Can’t wait to see what the new Bat Suit will look like when Azrael builds and wears it to beat the crud out of Tom Hardy’s Bane
I hope the bat suit looks like it did in the climax of the graphic novel “Knightfall”.

    • thats what I was thinking Luis… this movie is gonna be of the chain

    • if azrael is in dark knight rises, i would prefer to watch a handicapped person touch himself. that is just stupid and hope to god it doesn’t happen. one of the only flubs denny o’ neil had writng batman years ago, was creating azrael. awful character from the get go. please nolan, have better sense.

  5. This movie is starting to have more people in it than the Hobbit movies.

  6. I know this isnt going to happen but he would make a good riddler

    • i 2nd that …. riddle me this?

  7. I still have a feeling since we will be seeing Bane unleash what ever is inside arkham that we will see the birth of alot of villans so in the end we will know that he will have to be Batman forever, this guy gives me a Riddler vibe again not saying he will be in the movie but maybe we will see him become the the question mark man.

  8. he does fit the riddler character
honestly riddler could have a small part in this as a camo
just like in TDK with scarecrow in the begining.
but thats small chance of happening

  9. I think he might be a camedo riddler?

  10. I love Josh Stewart on Criminal Minds as William LaMontagne Jr. The accent yummmmmm..

  11. At this point, Who ISN’T in DKR? Looks like a great cast so far. But how ’bout Ricky Gervais as King Tut? Tim Allen as Sgt. O’Hara?

  12. bad cop…

  13. Hmm I can see him playing a small villain role like Deadshot itd be kinda cool to have Bane having a second wing man

  14. This is getting better by the minute! Nolan rules! Batman rules!

  15. zsasz?

  16. One thing I’ve noticed in Knightfall is that Bane blows up Arkham and ALL the VILLAINS are unleashed upon Gotham in result Batman whom has now taken the rap for Harvey Two Face’s murders is over run with villains receiving clues, leads and hints to banes where bouts from a jigsaw like character whom never gives his name just riddles thus Gordon calls him the Riddler.

  17. I guess it’d be cool if Josh Stewart is seen leaving Arkham and just leaving clues not really for Batman alone but for the Commissioner and Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s cop character to track through out the movie creating some much needed suspense assuming the Bat’s back will be broken(the Riddler scenes should play out almost like that of the “Saw” movies)That would be so cool!!!
