Harry Knowles posted up a very interesting story yesterday on Ain’t It Cool News about the future of the Batman franchise and more specifically, what could happen with the eagerly anticipated Batman 3.
Remember the few beautiful scenes in The Dark Knight that were shot in IMAX? What if the next movie was entirely shot like that?

In Harry’s own words,
“The THIRD chapter of Christopher Nolan’s Caped Crusader’s saga could very well be FULLY shot in IMAX, not IMAX Digital – but the beautiful, stunning IMAX that we saw pieces of THE DARK KNIGHT in.”
This isn’t confirmed yet and while Mr. Knowles has acquired this info through his trusty sources, he carefully clarifies that this simply could be something that doesn’t end up working out because of the complications and costs of doing this for a large-scale full feature film.
Harry also points out that director Christopher Nolan has taken a break between each Batman movie to reset his creative mind, but in this case, it may be also to create some custom IMAX cameras for his use later. However, everything involved with using IMAX, from principal photography, setup, post and the lengthy time requirements of such a process are huge obstacles.
If a movie needs to be chosen to go full IMAX, Batman 3 is it. They’ve now got one of the largest built-in movie fanbases as a result of their massive success last time around and it’s a perfect movie to be shot in this way.
Warner Brothers wants more Batman films, and they want them fast! If they need to wait a full three-four years between these installments, then the IMAX format could help it be worth the wait.

By the time this film comes out, it’ll cost $20 to see it in IMAX so it better be one heckuva good movie.
saw dark knight in imax, prefer reg screening to be honest. The imax screen is too big and you cannot see everything that is going on and in addition the tickets cost wayyyyyy too much
if it goes to imax only… lol i can not imagine how crowded the theatres will be!
Ok, I loved The Dark Knight. Watched it several times. Own it. But I have completely missed those scenes that were filmed in IMAX. What scenes are we talking about? Inquiring minds want to know… or just me.

The opening scene with the bank robbery is one. The one Batman was fighting those guys in Hong Kong trying to get that guy who had the mob’s money. The scene where Batman was riding his batpod for the first time chasing the Joker is another. I believe the hospital scene was filmed i Imax. And the scene where Batman was fighting the police at the warehouse.

To fully see the scenes in IMAX. You must watch the movie in Blu-Ray. The standard scenes still have the black bar up/down the screen. The IMAX scenes have no black bar, whitch is full screen. But i dont know if it the same thing on a dvd because a have the BR version.
Batman isn’t heavy on special effects so this is somewhat pointless. Just like the bank robbery scene.
Update….. Megan Fox to play Catwoman in Batman 3!!!! Megan Fox in pleather pants, I can’t wait!!!

That has to be one of the dumbest rumors ever. There is no way Nolan would cast someone who is only cast in films just to attract the horny teenagers.

Granted – but the car chase/prisoner transport scene was fantastic, and still didn’t need a lot of special effects
