Bale Not In League With New JLA Movie

Aug 22, 2007 by

Christian BaleAccording to reports at IESB.net, Christian Bale is not too keen on the idea of Batman being recast in the proposed JLA movie at Warners. Bale indicates that he was never approached and that he wouldn’t welcome someone else wearing the cowl. In the interview over at IESB, Bale’s comments seem to indicate this.

Q: Are you doing Justice League after TDK?

Bale: No

IESB: Have you been approached for Justice League?

Bale: No

IESB: How would you feel about the studio recasting Batman for Justice League?

Bale: It’d be better if it doesn’t tread on the toes of what we’re doing, though I feel that it would be better if it comes out after Batman 3.

I like the idea of a Justice League movie. I also like the idea of throwing as much money as possible at Bale to get him to appear as Batman in the film. Bale has made the character his own and I’m not sure anyone else could do it justice (sorry about the pun). A JLA movie is almost guaranteed bank for WB, so they need to pony up the cash to both Bale and Brandon Routh and make the movie an event. It is also being reported that Ryan Reynolds wants to put on the red tights and play Flash… the potential cast for this movie gives it the possibility of being awesome.

Regardless of what happens with the JLA movie, Warner Bros. would be absolutely insane to upset the people who are currently in charge of the Batman franchise. Christopher Nolan and crew knocked it out of the park with the original and appear to be making all the right decisions on the sequel.

  1. Rumor is it’s going to be done mo-cap like Beowolf, which I think is bull. Doing mo-cap takes time and WB seem to be rushing with this.

  2. Routh and Bale owned their roles. OWNED THEM. They’ve gotta play them!

  3. Routh owned Clark Kent. As Superman he came across pretty weak IMHO.

  4. Yeah,I liked him,but I think for his next time round as Superman it’d be better to see more Routh and less Reeve, cuz when you try to be another actor who played your character instead of being your own version of the character, things don’t always turn out so great.

  5. That whole Superman movie was ruined right at the point that they gave him a kid. Unless they pull a JR Ewing type dream fix, I don’t know how that correct that huge error in judgement. I hope to God that Singer loses his infatuation with the original movies and makes Superman his own. The last one left a really bad taste in my mouth; plus it was kind of boring.

  6. Since Bale’s not coming back, I’ve been thinking about Wentworth Miller being Batman but I do prefer my batman actor’s to have more hair(that’s why I didn’t like Keaton). IESB (god bless them) have posted the first 14 pages of the JLA script. From the sounds of it, its set a couple of years after Batman 3 so no continuity problems there and Nolan’s probably going to end it in three and Batman appears more obsessive so Wentworth seems perfect (watch Prison Break if you don’t believe me) As for the man
of steel, someone unknown should be cast. I mean Tom Welling was an unknown before Smallville, if that’s one Wellings’ could be out there?

  7. sorry i meant if that’s one Welling how many more wellings could be out there. sorry
