Oh, and does this also sound kind of like the premise behind The Surrogates to anyone else? Except with humans instead of robots?

Gotta say, I thought it would suck but after watching the trailer, I'm pretty excited.

@ Ken J

There are countless games that employ that technique. Crank 1 and 2 are just some mediocre movies that amount to nothing in the end result, and i fear this flick will be the same. They were probably booted from the Jonah Hex project because they wanted to have some kind of Godzilla fight scene like thy did in Crank 2 using the puppetry effects from that Phil Collins video. You Know the one where they had puppets of every famous person during the 80s. Can't remember the name of video but some one would at least remember those puppets.

The crank movies would have made good video games, you can have an "adrenaline meter" for the first and a "charge meter" for the second, and you have to do certain tasks to get those back up, if they reach 0, you die and game over, lol.

Kinda have to go with Gravatar on this.

Crank 1 was a decent fun movie. Crank 2 is pure crap. The fast cutting, "edgy" camera angles were so excessive. The characters were some of the dumbest characters put on screen. I understand it never took itself seriously, etc. but half way through the movie I was thinking "wtf am I watching?" Jason S saved that movie from being a complete failure.

@ Ross Miller

I did a review comment of Crank 2 In the Tony Stark is in Crank 2 article a few weeks back. Don't get me wrong I gave both films a chance and had high hopes for Crank 2, but for me and many others even on this site the movies were terrible. The best thing about Crank 2 was that Amy Smart put on some weight and was looking tastey. To me these guys are the American Version of Uwe Bolle making a mediocre movies about video games with out being based on any one particular video game.

Yah, some are definitely cheating, but some are just THAT good because they play so much. When I was in highschool I played counter-strike for HOURS every night after school. I was one of these nerds that I hate now, I was ranked number 1 in a very popular stats server and held records with every weapon. People always thought I was cheating because like 85% of my kills were by one-shot head shots. I did things like kill people through walls because I knew where every camping spot was, where people would be at what times after the round began, etc. etc... New people to the server accused me of cheating in just about every game, but all of the regulars knew me and knew I was simply that good so I was never voted off, in fact, the people accusing me got voted out if they wouldn't drop it after being told I am not a cheater, lol.

Now if I would play I probably would suck though, out of practice, lol.

Crank 1 ruled. Crank 2 was fun, but not as good as the first. I didn't realise there was such dislike for either of them, though.

The Wii is probably the closest simulation to that you will ever get as far as home console. Call of Duty 4 is one of the few game that have realistic aiming and shooting plus recoil and breathing adjustment for certain weapons. Also there are many "Aimbots" so that could be the main factor contributing to you getting pwned :)

I've always thought that aiming and shooting would be better in multiplayer games if you actually had to physically aim and shoot like you would in real life. Then these little nerds won't be kicking my ass in fps games...

Anyway, hopefully this won't suck like the Crank movies...

Looks awesome. Poster is a very cool idea to draw attention. The process of the boy controlling the warrior is not new though. It's just "Motion Capture" which they are actually doing currently for real with everything from robotic puppetry to animating computer generated characters. Very cool stuff.

Great concept for a movie as long as they can pull it off without people losing their way during the plot. I personally enjoyed both Crank movies so I look forward to what these guys can do here.
