[UPDATE: Is the Venom Movie Moving Finally Moving Forward?]
Avi Arad recently sat down with Garth of DarkHorizons.com to discuss his involvement in the upcoming movie Bratz (which no, I will NOT be covering here on Screen Rant!) and some Marvel projects came up in the discussion.
In particular it seems that things are moving forward, albeit at an early stage, for Spider-Man 4. At this point it’s just at the discussion level with Sony Pictures. What was a surprise for me was the fact that there is a Venom movie in development! I had not heard this previously.

Avi said that things are coming along “awesome” regarding the Venom movie, but was tight-lipped regarding casting or any other details.
I’m not a big fan of the character and I wonder how the heck you can have a bad guy as the title character for a movie? It’ll be interesting to see how this one develops and I’m sure that lovers of the character who were so angry at what little screen time he had in Spider-Man 3 will be ecstatic to hear this news.

LOL, my daughter is most definitely NOT into the toys which I think send a HORRIBLE message to girls and I’m pretty sure she has no desire in seeing the film, either.

I wonder if Venom-creator David Micheline will be happy about a VENOM movie. Also, a Venom flick was up at New Line until a few years ago, I think before Spider-Man came out.

The Venom movie was to have him as an anti-hero with Carnage as the villain, if I recall correctly.
Oh, that’s right! I’d forgotten and that’s pretty sad since I actually posted about that. Of course at the time I think it was supposed to be a Spidey/Venom/Carnage triad in the film.

So get this: My idea for a good Spidey movie that would most likely suck if they actually did it. Spiderman and his Amazing Friends. We’ve already got Iceman! Now all we need is Firestar, a weird secret headquarters that flips out of the furniture and walls, and to have all the actors call out their name as they transform/change into costumes.
Ack!
Sounds like a better Saturday morning cartoon.

Seeing as they had a whole comic series based on the dude… there’s plenty of source material and basis to be able to create a movie about him. Not to mention the comic did very well for Marvel, which shows that people are interested in having Venom as a main character.

The movie can def work. Yes venom is a bad ass mother effer but he does end up going on his own vigilante kick. Carnage as a villian maybe? As for spider man movies.. The maximum carnage story would be awesome spidey venom and carnage!!!!! Doooo it now marvel
Does anyone else have a feeling that Scorpion will be the next villian in Spider-Man 4?? Although Rhino would be pretty cool, as well.
Being 44 years old, I was just happy that I lived to see Marvel and Sony bring Spiderman to the big screen and do it right! Yes, the first 2 were better than 3, but contrast any of them with that hokey made-for-tv Spiderman movie of the late 70s and all three look great. And yes, it’s probably time for Raimi and co. to depart. The series needs a fresh outlook. But that Simmons guy who played JJJ has to stay. He was great!
Oh, I forgot. How about Electro in the 4th installment. I’m sure they could do a great modern adaptation of him.
venom was an awesome vigilante, VENOM FTW… Maximum carnage would be better though…Marvel would prolly mess it up though.
i will see spiderman 4 and venom movie it’s awsome i like tobey magiure and topher grace they did a great job i will see spiderman 4 in theatres may 6th 2011 i will see topher grace on venom movie coming soon i like topher grace as venom so i will see topher grace as venom on spiderman 4 and venom movie coming soon.
