Disney/Marvel’s marketing budget for The Avengers is reportedly in the $100 million range, and recently we’ve been seeing ample evidence that the money is being put to good use.
TV spots, Trailers and Featurettes for Marvel’s superhero teamup blockbuster have been coming at us daily – and today is no exception, as there is an avalanche of Avengers-related material to sift through. First and foremost, we’d like to offer the latest TV spot for the film, as well as information on how Facebook fans could potentially win a chance for an early screening in their city.
First, check out the latest Avengers TV spot, appropriately titled “We Are At War”:
This TV spot is meant to highlight the epic battle that will be the focal point of this film – and it does just that. If you’re still wondering exactly which alien race it is that Loki (Tom Hiddleston) has brought to Earth to fight his war, check out some popular theories in our “Who are the aliens in Avengers?” post. Be warned, though: it’s looking less and less like these aliens will play any pivotal role; most likely, they will simply be the horde of nondescript baddies our heroes beat on for awhile. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) may be the only true foe we get.
Avengers Early Screenings
In an effort to increase exposure, Marvel has announced that they will run an Avengers promotional contest through the Avengers Offiicial Facebook page, in which fans can show their support for the film. Cities that demonstrate the most support will be rewarded with screenings of The Avengers – weeks in advanced of its official May 4th theatrical debut in the U.S.

Marvel Studios announced today that “Marvel’s The Avengers” will reward its fans on Facebook for their continued support of the film’s campaign with advance screenings in cities around the world on a first-come-first-served basis. In the U.S. fans will be able to experience the film in stunning IMAX® 3D.
This unprecedented screening event will enable Facebook fans of “Marvel’s The Avengers” in cities that have assembled the most fans on Facebook to win the first access to screenings of the film, weeks before the May 4th release in theatres. This event will kick off on April 14th at 10 a.m PDT with the top five cities in the U.S. with the most fans on Facebook: Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Houston and Miami.
The next five cities to garner the most Facebook “Marvel’s The Avengers” fans will be awarded an early screening as well – to be announced shortly on Facebook. Fans can rally for their city to be the chosen location for this special opportunity by going to Facebook.com/Avengers for details. International fans should visit their local “Marvel’s The Avengers” Facebook page for more details on how to win a screening in their city.
Participating fans are encouraged to celebrate this movie event by coming to their local screenings dressed in their finest Super Hero costumes inspired by “Marvel’s The Avengers” — the winners of the Best Costume contest will be awarded reserved seats.
If you’re not the type to read things closely, you’ll want to pay special attention to that last bit about how some well-designed cosplay could win you some special reserved seats at your pre-screening of The Avengers. Marvel no doubt wants some good photo ops and video to run as part of their homestretch marketing campaign – who knows, with a good enough costume you may even make one of their commercials (not at all an official promise – just speculating).
