[UPDATE: Check Out a Good look at Captain America's New Costume!]

At this point, it’s not as if the vast majority of moviegoers need a reason to see Marvel’s The Avengers. People are either comic book fans who will be piling into theaters for the ‘event of a lifetime’ (you’ll know them – look for the costumes) – or they’re among the millions who have followed one, a few, or all of the solo character films that led us to this team-up event. Neither camp is exactly in need of coercion to see this flick.

However, there are those who somehow remain unaware, unconvinced, or indifferent about this little film that writer/director Joss Whedon (Serenity) and his all-star cast have put together. So, as to remind us again why their movie is going to be epically awesome, Marvel has released a new, minute-long, TV Spot for The Avengers.

-

What more is there to say? This spot takes its time to show us how Captain America (Chris Evans) will be at the center of an Avengers team – Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansoon), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson)  - that will be laying the smackdown on the nefarious Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and his mysterious alien armada.

What more do we need to see? The last Avengers trailer gave us enough story (as if the solo films didn’t), and some pretty epic action sequences, to boot. Featurettes and clips have proven that Whedon has nailed some pretty solid character moments and relationships, so there’s that to look forward to as well. This latest spot is just overkill, really.

Basically: the turkey has been cooked fat and juicy, and the smell is just wafting all through the house right now. Time to eat!

BONUS: While we wait at the table, though, check out this pic of Cap – his costume looks pretty sweet in this one:

  1. the only thing at this point I really care about, is who the aliens are, and that huge dragon looking thing is.

    • Thankfully those details aren’t being revealed.

It’s great when a director and marketing team know when to hold stuff back. Film fans these days don’t know how to control themselves, and watch/read everything they can before seeing the movie. It’s nice when the filmmakers force people to stew and wait it out.

      • I would have stopped with that awesome trailer that had the first Hulk action (catching IM). After seeing that, there was no way in Tartarus I would miss this film.

        • That’s so funny, because I said the same thing after seeing that, too. In fact, at this point, I am most psyched about seeing the Hulk and he is actually my least followed character in the entire team. Giddy, just giddy :P

      • I agree with you. Usually when they show you all the “SUPER COOL” scenes it because its all they got cough cough WATCHMEN. I just wish they wouldve left that truck flip for the movie and not in trailers for TDK. Remember?

        yup that was sick

    • Go to your local comic shop and find out for yourself…

      Maybe the brood

      Maybe someone new

      Maybe Mojo

We will have to wait and see….

      • Forces of Hel!!!

As for the dragon, I doubt its Fing Fang Foom, but who knows?

  2. i am growing more impatient for may to get here already!

  3. 4 more weeks to go!!!…..

  4. This trailer certainly supports the notion that it’s from Cap’s point of view.

Might just be the trailer though.

    Still love it either way!

  5. It doesn’t show each of them showing off their skill. The main people whose skills it showed was Captain America and Iron Man. A little bit of the rest. And pretty much nothing from Hulk. I wish they would show Hulk more in the trailers :(. At least they did that with the final trailer.

    • Well it does show Cap jumping out of a plane without a parachute. That should please some of the fans that whinged about that in the last film. ^-^

    • Jose,

You know… you’re absolutely right. I don’t know where my head was at when I wrote this originally.

I did some tweaking to the post to be more accurate.

      • It’s banner day for Kofi! :)

    • Two of the longer trailers (the last two 2-min ones)have more than enough Hulk to get me excited. This was just a poke in the ribs tease to keep us excited and, essentially, change up the ‘style’ of the trailers, in a way. Personally, I love the final shot of Cap throwing his shield at the camera.

  6. It looks like Cap certainly is gonna be the boss/glue that holds the team together. That’s despite all the Iron Man heavy posters etc…

    • I’m sure the Iron Man-heavy trailers are to appease Robert Downy, Jr. and the casual fans. But when s*** hits the can, I’m Cap will be the one in charge. Which is only appropriate.

  7. Gobble, gobble!!!!

  8. BTW, it’s great to see the S.H.I.E.L.D flying car promo!!!! I hope it’s in the Avengers movie cuz I remember when the 616 Nick Fury used to drive it and fly around in it with different heroes at times in the comics. Maybe that’s where the Men In Black movie stole the idea from.

    • what flying car promo?

      • The Acura promo above ^ has shown S.H.I.E.L.D gear(courtesy of Stark Industries tech) including the flying car and a repulsor/ photon cannon projectile handgun.

  9. The ne CA Uniform looks good but I believe the one from CA TFA (THE FIRST AVENGER) ovie from last summer, the one he wears in most of the Movie Posters is a lot better. Its more realistic for one. Yes this is a super hero movie with super powers so you have to somewhat engage disbelief but just as Nolan did with his over haul of the Bat suit in BB & TDK, I really liked the way they made the CA Suit from the TFA movie more realistic; like something you’d believe was realistic for a super soldier to wear if there was such a thing.

    • Should of created a modernized TFA suit. I love function with style.

  10. Less then a month away zomg

  11. Cap’s costume blows compared to the one from Captain America, Widow looks so tamed now and that tiny little pistol looks stupid, she needs at least a magnum or a desert eagle or something imposing, or at least sticks out, I like the Incredible Hulk better than this Hulk, but Edward Norton’s not in this…moment of silence…and apparently this is supposed to be a slightly out-of-shape Hulk, so, eh, fine…Iron Man looks alright, Thor looks okay, always thought his costume looked a little plastic-ey versus metal, guy with the bow *not a huge Marvel fan* looks decent…eh. Cap’s costume was a failed oppurtunity. If they fixed that, the rest would even out, but that not being fixed makes everything else stick out.

The only reason I would see this is because Iron Man is in it. Straight up.

I want more Dark Knight news, damn it. :(

    • Well, your just full of sunshine and rainbows today.

      • I’ve seen about 6 Batman movies already, I want some Wonder Woman news, or Flash news, or Martian Manhunter news or Aquama-nah scrap that one damit:(

        • How does that relate to what lastdrag0n89 said? Or anything related to this post?

If you don’t like Caps suit, fine. But, you don’t know that his costume wouldn’t work, because you haven’t seen the movie, you have only seen pictures of him standing still, and clips of him jumping around over cars and blocking Thor’s hammer.

The main reason that you don’t know his suit wont work, is because that I don’t know if it would or wouldn’t work, and you don’t possess mental powers that I don’t have.

          • @big baby I don’t know if you were referring to me but I was being sarcastic and messing with a previous complainer up there ^. I’m stoked for the Avengers. My only complaint like many others is that they should have stuck with the CA:TFA design and just tweaked it just a bit.

  12. Two things.

1)I feel stupid for not noticing a lot sooner just how terrible Cap’s uniform looks.

2)I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again,Chris Evans isn’t a good Cap.He was an excellent Steve Rogers, but he just doesn’t bring it as Captain America for me.I’ve been saying since day one that they should’ve got Armie Hammer for Cap.He has a way more commanding presence and is more believable as a leader of a team of this caliber than Evans.

    • Chris Evans has the build like Cap, Armie does not.
Evans has a bigger fan base, Armie has got how many movies under his belt? (I had to look it up because I didnt know, kinda funny actually)
Evans is an experienced actor, and judging how many movies armie has been in, he does not.

      However, both have the look.

I completely disagree with you in other words ;)

  13. I can’t wait to see this movie bulk smash hahahaha

  14. I want some Wonder Man…..

    • hehe, well, at least you could expect him to be able to act…Though a Grim Reaper would kinda rock…

  15. What if…after Iron Man 3 and Thor 2,

Stark, Thor and Hulk left The Avengers and Hawkeye, Black Widow & Cap stayed on for Avengers 2 along with Black Panther, Antman, Wasp, Wonder Man and Ms. Marvel.

so it would be some fresh blood w/ Cap, widow & Clint as the leaders:
    2013 Iron Man 3, Thor 2
2014 Cap 2, Antman (with Wasp & Wonder Man)
2015 Black Panther (with Pym, Wasp & Cap), & Avengers 2 (with Ms. Marvel and Ultron)

    What if… ?

    • I would want Vision before Wonderman, but I do so love the assemble issues…

  16. What if……? We get through this movie first and see what we got.

  17. What if…? We get a What If movie? 8-)

  18. Now that whould kick ass.

  19. Hey Kofi, seen the new tv spot where Cpt. America tells Hulk to smash? lol

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8ywuyGE8Y8

Kind of funny to hear the iconic phrase “hulk smash” coming out of Cpt. America’s mouth, haha.

  20. The dragon looking thing could be marvel’s attempt at the GoodLuck Dragon from The Neverending Story.
