  1. Captain America started good but as the movie progressed and you got to climax, it was a bit boring.

  2. Its a more mature Batman film….

  3. Anthony, I’m starting to wonder about you. :-D

BTW, has anyone ever said you sound like a surfer? 8-)

    • Haha… have not heard that. Although, I don’t listen to the podcast. I like to forget the many stupid and offense things I say instantly after I say them. ;-)

  4. I don’t think its a more mature Batman film, its different, treat each respectively for their own execution.

  5. Ok, I predict $233 million this weekend for Avengers.

    • Oh, increments of 5. OK, $235 million.

      • I said 162 so it doesn’t have to be increments of 5 ;)

We just did that so Ant & Ben would have to go at least 5 away from Kofi and I.

  6. Iron Man is my favorite comic book movie (still waiting on Avengers, TDKR, Spider Man), and RDJ is definitely the poster boy for Marvel.

No Marvel film has had good boss fights? I disagree. TIH, I felt, had amazing fight scenes, with the boss fight the best.

    • I’ll give you that. As a champion of The Incredible Hulk, it had the only good bass battle for the series (until The Avengers, baby!)

    • Yah, I think I might have even mentioned that during our discussion (or maybe it was before we were recording). A major problem with the original Hulk film was a terrible end battle – something they must have directly addressed in planning the second one.

  7. I enjoyed Thor but the movie actually didn’t explore really how powerful Thor is. In the comics, Thor went up against the Hulk, and gave him a good fight; that’s no small feat.

    • You’re going to love ‘The Avengers’ – just saying.

  8. I loved Anthony’s metaphor about being excited for the various superhero movies.

    • Kofi with the biggest laugh in SR Underground history during the box office results.

  9. My Marvel Movie Rankings.
    1. Captain America
    2. Iron Man
    3. The Incredible Hulk
    4. Iron Man 2
    5. Thor
I was surprised bye how much I enjoyed Captain America. IMO it’s the most cinematic of the films and had a real sense of adventure. Also it had a villain that I thought was the most interesting.
Thor is at the bottom for a few reasons but mostly because I think Kenneth Brannagh [sp] completely dropped the ball and was a bad choice to direct.
On a side note I made my wife listen to the part of the podcast when you guys brought up how ridiculous the town was. When we watched it I was saying how bad it was and that it looked like 6 people lived there so who gave a damn but she was saying I was being overly critical.
Now I can say I was right :)
PS, she still thinks I’m to critical and now a bigger dork than before.

    • Just switch Captian America and iron man and we have identical lists!

    • The ‘Thor’ town reminded me of Radiator Springs from the ‘Cars’ movies.

  10. For the record:

    1) The Avengers
    2) Iron Man
    3) The Incredible Hulk
    4) Captain America
    5) Thor
    6) Iron Man 2

  11. Avengers will make 178 Million

  12. And Hulk is much stronger than Thor the movies and tv shows Nerf Hulk all the time.

  13. Even my girlfriend wants to see ‘The Avengers’….$200mil!

    • Wait……Just read Rob’s article….So, did I win?? HAHA! Crossing my fingers that the actuals are in my favor….

  14. I’m going 145 mil for the avengers this weekend

  15. Just saw ironman in theatres and it was once again phenomenal the blend of comedy and emotion is great. Still to this day my favorite marvel movie.

  16. I predict a 180M opening weekend.

  17. While I agree that Iron Man 2 is the weakest of the marvel movies, I didn’t think it was a complete failure either.

  18. What’s with saying that Transformers 2 and Michael Bay are racist? C’mon Ben, I thought you were better than that. Why does everyone just ignore the fact that outside of the Tranformers movies, Michael Bays most successful movies feature African-American leads? Or the fact that most of his movies have African-Americans as major characters? You can argue that trying to make ‘the Twins’ urban was a bad decision but that doesn’t mean it’s racist.

Calling someone a racist in this country is pretty much the worst thing you can say. You betting have the evidence to back it up.

If youre going to get excited about, or cover, or go see a movie that’s made for a target audience that is 12 year old boys, then you should quit whining about silly gags and jokes like a robot humping a leg (like you wouldn’t hump Megan Fox’s leg) and just deal with the fact that the target audience likes that sruff.

    • Rick – Thanks for listening and I don’t disagree. I was definitely kidding. I think most people felt that ‘The Twins’ weren’t a great choice but I’d never seriously make the claim that Bay is racist. I am sorry if that wasn’t clear and I thought someone else had undercut the claim with a related joke – as it is I didn’t mean to let that comment stand.

That said, I don’t think it’s wrong to criticize TF2 for some of the especially juvenile humor – we’ve seen plenty of movies targeted at a PG-13 demographic that are both exciting and smart about humor (The Avengers is one).
