Four years ago during the post-credits scene for The Avengers, Marvel Studios gave the first tease of Thanos. Since that point, the Mad Titan has continued to wait, plot, sit, and smirk his way to not holding any of the Infinity Stones in his possession. He made a bit of progress after Avengers: Age of Ultron when he was shown dawning the Infinity Gauntlet for the first time. So far, all but one of the Infinity Stones have been revealed, but it is only a matter of time before the last one is unveiled as Thanos is finally coming to carry out his plan himself.

Thanos will given his chance to show his power once he assembled all six Infinity Stones in Avengers: Infinity War and the followup that is still mysteriously titled Untitled Avengers. While filming may have unofficially began without anyone noticing, Josh Brolin reported to set early on to work on his motion capture performance. If filming has begun, meetings are still taking place to finalize details and get everyone on the same page, which has allowed for producer Louis D'Esposito to tease the upcoming Avengers films and their comic influence.

D'Esposito posted a new photo on his Twitter account teasing the meeting he is currently taking part in for the next two Avengers movies. While he kept details at a minimum, the photo he used to show his excitement for the meeting was the cover of the Infinity Gauntlet storyline. The meeting could serve as a debriefing period for everyone to get on the same page before production officially begins in the coming weeks.

The decision by D'Esposito to use this story to tease his meetings about these movies appears to be just another indicator that directors Joe and Anthony Russo will be combining multiple comic book storylines together throughout the two films. It is impossible for Marvel Studios to completely recreate the events from the comics due to rights issues, but them borrowing elements of it would not be completely surprising. Thanos will have to assemble the Gauntlet and all the Stones at some point, so they could just be drawing inspiration from this line.

However, there was a report not too long ago that pointed towards Marvel Studios borrowing from the Infinity Gauntlet story for the plot of the third Avengers specifically. This photo could be further evidence that this is going to be the case, which again, would not be too surprising if proven true. Thanos killing off multiple Avengers in the blink of an eye would present newer heroes the chance to rise to the occasion, just like in the comic.

These events could be waiting for the fourth Avengers film and D'Esposito is just starting to tease them earlier, but re-titling Untitled Avengers to Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet has been theorized before and would make sense if the story revolves around the Gauntlet itself and how to stop it. Unfortunately, any official details regarding specific plot points for the film are potentially a long ways away. Hopefully, these meetings are the final step before cameras start officially rolling.
