Longtime fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe need to prepare for the fact that not everyone will make it out of Avengers: Infinity War alive. Ever since Thanos was teased at the end of The Avengers, audiences have been waiting to see what will happen when he finally encounters Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Getting ahold of all six Infinity Stones will not only bring Earth's heroes to blows with the Mad Titan, but almost all heroes from the MCU will be present and lending their hand in combat.

Because the MCU has been building to this moment and thanks to the power of a fully powered Infinity Gauntlet, fans have long assumed Infinity War will be the end of some characters' (and their actors) time in the MCU. As sad as that may be for some, Kevin Feige has confirmed it to be true.

Feige spoke to JoBlo as part of the press junkets for Spider-Man: Homecoming and they asked him about Spidey's next appearance in Infinity War and the stakes that will be at hand. When he was directly asked if it will be the final chapter for some MCU heroes, Feige briefly but definitively stated, "Yes." Who this could refer to is up for speculation, but when asked specifically if they had future plans for their two biggest characters - Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) - after Avengers 4, Feige said:

We have another two years of hard work to even finish these movies, and they [the actors] have a lot of hard work to do, so that's all we're thinking about, is completing those and delivering on the promise of those. Where it goes beyond that, we'll see.

Feige's follow up is not surprising as he would never disclose a spoiler as big as them planning to kill either or both of Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. They are the biggest names in this universe and have been put in a prominent position to this point. Since they have been longstanding members of the MCU, freeing the actors from these commitments and moving the MCU into a new direction with new figureheads makes sense, but will be no easier to swallow for audiences should the heroes meet their end.

Outside of Tony and Steve, the most obvious candidate to bite the dust in Infinity War is Vision (Paul Bettany) due simply to the fact that an Infinity Stone is stuck in his head and Thanos (or his Black Order) will have to rip it out to get the Gauntlet to full power. Other than him, Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) has long been high up on lists of who will die as he has not been given a prominent role to this point and has little chance of getting a solo movie in the future.

With Infinity War entering the final weeks of filming, who reports to set for Avengers 4 will be rather telling in figuring out who does or does not make it out of Infinity War. As Ant-Man, Wasp, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther have only just began their MCU journeys, they should each be safe. Instead, those who have been around for some time - like the original Avengers team - and secondary/supporting characters that aren't expected to headline films moving forward are the most likely to perish. Regardless of who it is or how many die, it will mark a pivotal point in the MCU when it happens.
