Avengers: Infinity War is set to release on May 4th, 2018. It will be a culmination of ten years of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and is expected to be huge. The movie will bring together the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy in an epic showdown against the almighty Thanos.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Infinity War is the most anticipated upcoming comic book movie, and therefore is bound to be surrounded by spoilers, exposed secrets, and an abundance of rumors.

To prevent leaks, Marvel Studios isn't even trusting its cast with its secrets. According to Elizabeth Olsen, the actress who plays Scarlet Witch, the cast didn't even receive full scripts but just their own individual pages.

Also, according to Tom Holland, better known as Spider-Man, the Russos wouldn't even tell him what villain he is fighting in one of his scenes. He simply had to pretend to fight a villain that he knew nothing about.

However, despite the secrecy of the movie's production, photos and videos have been leaked that have had fans guessing at the plot of Infinity War. Some of these rumors are highly credible, while others verge on insanity.

So, get ready for all the gossip. Here are the 18 Insane Avengers: Infinity War Rumors That'll Blow You Away.

Vision Becomes Human

In Civil War, the audience was teased by a budding relationship forming between Vision and Scarlet Witch.

So naturally, fans were intrigued by a leaked Avengers: Infinity War set video that showed Vision (Paul Bettany) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) sharing a kiss... but wait a minute – is Vision human in these photos?

Paul Bettany isn’t wearing Vision make-up or motion capture dots in the photos, which could mean this was simply a rehearsal – especially if you also consider Olsen’s attire – or, it could hint at a story plot.

The photo has since sparked rumors that Vision could become human in Infinity War.

We all know that Vision will play a key role in Infinity War because of the Mind Stone he sports on his forehead, but could this mean that Thanos removed the stone and Tony Stark rebuilt Vision as a human?

Did the removal of the Infinity Stone simply turn Vision human? Is this scene an illusion created by Scarlet Witch? Or is Vision disguised as a human to hide from Thanos?

Whatever the reason, the dressed-down photo of Paul Bettany has sent fans reeling into the dark world of fan theories.

Quicksilver will be Resurrected

Quicksilver dies in Sokovia, Age of Ultron (2015)

We all saw Quicksilver sacrifice his life to save Hawkeye and a child in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and he seemed pretty dead, but let’s face it – death doesn’t mean much in the Marvel Universe.

Kevin Feige promised that Infinity War and Avengers 4 will feature every single hero who’s ever been in a Marvel movie, and 4Chan announced a rumor that some characters, such as Quicksilver, are definitely expected to return.

So, is Quicksilver too fast for death? Here are some ways fans believe he will return.

The first is by time travel. Doctor Strange is expected to be in Infinity War, and with his possession of the Time Stone, he could go back in time and save Quicksilver.

The second theory is through the use of Helen Cho’s Regeneration Cradle. We saw it used to heal Hawkeye, and Iron Man later discovered it could create an entire human body. Some fans believe this could be relevant in reviving Quicksilver.

A third theory suggests that GH.325 DNA could bring Quicksilver back from the dead. It was used on Phil Coulson, and although there was only one vial, Jemma Simmons and Leo Fitz could recreate the formula.

Nebula and Spider-Man will become Best Friends

Nebula will no doubt play an important role in Avengers: Infinity War since she is Thanos’ adopted daughter. However, who knew that the loner bent on revenge would make a new best friend in the movie?

Karen Gillan, the actress that plays Nebula, told Fandango that you will see more of Nebula in the film and that she even has a new best friend. She goes on to say, “I know who her new BFF is, and I can’t tell you. I can’t. I promise you it’s brilliant and unexpected and so good.”

Naturally, fans immediately started fantasizing about who they believed the new BFF will be. While many believed it could be Vision, some discouraged the idea that Marvel would play up his relationship with Scarlet Witch alongside a new friendship with Nebula.

So, this left fans resorting to Spider-Man. They are both newcomers and Spidey's sense of humor could complement her.

Fans also believe that Iron Man and Bucky could be potential BFF material for Nebula. Iron Man would be a great friend to repair or upgrade parts, and Bucky could be a shoulder to cry on due to his troubled past and matching robotic arm.

The Black Order will Bring the Guardians of the Galaxy to Earth

Set photos and prop weapons confirmed that Thanos will not be fighting alone in Avengers: Infinity War. He will be joined by the Black Order, which Josh Brolin confirmed to consist of Thanos’ children at the D23 Expo.

Since the official confirmation of the children, rumors have been spread about their connection to Thanos’ other daughters, Nebula and Gamora.

Some rumors suggest that their connection to the Black Order is the entire reason why the Guardians of the Galaxy will be brought into the movie. The Guardians will come to Earth to investigate this relationship.

Another interesting rumor is that Proxima Midnight, one of the members of the Black Order, is actually Drax’s “dead” daughter Kamaria.

Although Kamaria was said to be killed by Ronan the Accuser in Guardians of the Galaxy, there are speculations that she didn’t actually die and was instead taken under Thanos’ wing and raised as Proxima Knight.

This isn’t so far off from the comics, where Kamaria is still alive under the name Moondragon. Some fans believe that Marvel Studios will combine this story and that of Midnight in order to set Drax up for a battle against Thanos in Infinity War.

14. Ironman will Either Die or Become an Overseer for the Avengers

The biggest rumor about Infinity War is that one or some of our beloved Avengers will die.

Fans had their bets on Vision, Captain America, and Iron Man. However, with Evans and Bettany confidently confirming they will return for Avengers 4, things aren’t looking good for Iron Man.

Robert Downey Jr. has been more wish-washy about his contract with Marvel Studios. Although he claims his contract includes Avengers 4, Downey’s co-stars aren’t so sure he’ll stick around.

During an interview with Ellen Degeneres, Chris Evans said, “Downey is far closer to reaching that point where he may walk away.” Some fans believe this could mean the end of Iron Man.

However, it may be possible that Iron Man doesn’t get killed off, but will instead take on a different role.

Some rumors suggest that he will survive and remain a part of the MCU in a capacity similar to that of Nick Fury.

He will retire as a superhero but continue to oversee the Avenger’s activities. Maybe this is also the reason why Samuel L. Jackson hasn’t received the call for Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers 4.

Scarlet Witch is and Has Been a Villain All Along

Scarlet Witch MCU

Thanos is expected to be the main villain in Infinity War, but a new rumor suggests that Scarlet Witch may also join the dark side.

Scarlet Witch is extremely powerful, with abilities to torture anyone with their worst nightmares. When used for bad, this could be a huge problem for the Avengers.

In Age of Ultron, she showed Iron Man that the Avengers will die soon if he doesn’t take matters into his own hands.

This is what caused him to build Ultron. Although Iron Man was given a lot of heat throughout the movie for creating him, Scarlet Witch never steps forward to take the blame for showing him his fears.

Scarlet Witch was originally a foe of the Avengers because she believes that they caused the death of her family. Maybe she never made the switch to good, and she’s actually still working on her revenge plot against the superheroes.

However, other rumors say that Scarlet Witch and her powers will be critical in defeating Thanos. Either way, she may be a prominent character in the upcoming film.

Loki Will Play a Big Role

At the D23 Expo 2017, some lucky fans were given the first look at some Avengers: Infinity War footage.

The video not only provided confirmation that Loki will be in the movie, but also featured an interesting scene that could determine his role.

In this scene, Loki is presenting the Tesseract to someone who is taller than him. Now, we know that Thanos sent Loki to Earth to locate the Tesseract, so the scene could depict Loki completing the mission and handing the Infinity Stone over to the Mad Titan.

This has made fans believe that Loki will play a major role in the film as Thanos’ advisor.

However, as most people know, Loki isn’t one to be tied down to one side. He is more of an opportunist, and therefore many people think Loki will end up double-crossing Thanos in the end.

One of the Guardians of the Galaxy Will Die

Sean Gunn told FanFest that the next Guardians movie will entirely depend on what happens in Infinity War.

The Guardians of the Galaxy may have the most to lose in the war against Thanos, since three of them have a personal vendetta against the Mad Titan.

Drax is seeking revenge on the villains responsible for his family’s death. Although Ronan actually killed his family, Drax believes he was “only a puppet” serving Thanos.

He believes that Thanos is responsible for all the evil throughout the universe and is set on taking him out. Drax isn’t the only Guardian holding a grudge, though.

Gamora and Nebula are Thanos’ adoptive daughters who were pit against each other to create the most powerful sibling. The two have definitely grown up with some daddy issues and are determined to make him pay.

In the comics, Drax and Gamora were killed by Thanos, which have led some fans to believe one of them will die in Infinity War.

However, Karen Gillan recently revealed that Nebula was supposed to die in the first Guardians movie based on the original script. If the writers were already willing to kill off Nebula, could we see it happen now?

Thanos will Recreate Ultron

Thanos appears in the mid-credits of Avengers: Age of Ultron putting on the Infinity Gauntlet and saying “fine, I’ll do it myself.”

It seems as though someone in the movie had failed him, and fans believe the source of disappointment is Ultron.

One theory suggests that Ultron was part of Thanos’ plan and that the Mad Titan manipulated events to ensure Ultron was built.

According to the theory, Thanos put a virus in the Mind Stone to create Ultron. Ultron would then work on Thanos’ behalf to fight the Avengers on Earth.

This explains the scene where Thor and Captain America blame Stark for the creation of Ultron and Bruce and Tony respond by saying they didn’t create a “murder bot” because they were nowhere close to an interface.

Yet somehow, Ultron was created. It also explains why Ultron tries to kill the people that brought him to life.

Based on this theory, there is a rumor that Thanos will recreate Ultron and bring him back in Infinity War, particularly to retrieve the Mind Stone.

The Civil War Teams will Initially Fight Thanos Separately

In Civil War, the Avengers were divided over views on the Sokovia Accords and what path the organization should take.

This division will most likely spill over into Infinity War, causing problems when Earth is up against the Mad Titan.

Based on one rumor, the two teams will attempt to fight Thanos separately in Infinity War before realizing the need to work together to defeat the Mad Titan.

A leaked set photo from Infinity War also shows that Doctor Strange and Spider-Man will be left out of the space battle. Instead, they will be defending the Homefront on good ole, Planet Earth.

This isn't the first photo leaked of Doctor Strange and Spider-Man. It looks like the two New Yorkers will be bonding a lot throughout the movie.

Ebony Maw Will Defeat Doctor Strange in a Battle for the Time Stone

Based on some new Avengers: Infinity War set photos released by Just Jared, Doctor Strange could be in some trouble.

The pictures show Doctor Strange on the floor, tackled by an unknown CGI character, and if you look closely, the unknown character is reaching for his Infinity Stone.

Although we aren’t completely sure who the actor attacking Benedict Cumberbatch is, this hasn’t stopped fans from spreading rumors.

The Daily Mail suggests the unidentified actor is Paul Rudd, which would make the attacker Ant-Man. However, not everyone’s believing that story.

Some fans have noticed that, if you look closer at the tag on the back of the actor’s mo-cap suit, you see the letters “EB-MAW," which could translate to Ebony Maw.

As one of the members of the Black Order, Ebony Maw would be determined to overtake Strange for his Time Stone.

Could we see an epic psychic battle between Doctor Strange and Ebony Maw? Will Doctor Strange lose his Time Stone?

Who is Peter Dinklage Playing?

By now we know that Peter Dinklage has been casted for Avengers: Infinity War, but what character will he play?

Fans had some fun theorizing about his character and some popular choices included MODOK, Puck, Eitri, and Pip the Troll. However, a photo of Dinklage getting a new hairdo could confirm one of these theories.

In January 2017, Peter Dinklage was spotted dying his hair fiery red at a salon in New York City.

Unless Tyrion Lannister is rocking a new do, this could hint at Dinklage’s upcoming character in Infinity War. Now, which Marvel character sports luscious red locks?

Fans believe that this photo confirms Dinklage’s role as Pip the Troll. Pip is a prince-turned-troll from the planet Laxidazia.

He is tied to Adam Warlock, who coincidentally is highly involved with the Infinity Stones and Thanos. This could make him a perfect match for the upcoming Avengers movie.

Thanos will Destroy Xandar

Thanos will have to do something major to not only catch the attention of the entire heroic Marvel Universe and bring everyone together, but also to intrigue movie viewers who don’t know his story.

So what better way to show you’re the biggest villain of the Marvel Universe than to blow up an entire planet?

Rumors indicate that Thanos might destroy Xandar early on in Avengers: Infinity War.

Xandar is home to Nova Corps, which currently houses the power stone needed to complete Thanos’ collection.

Annihilating the planet will not only gain him access to the stone, but will also alert the Guardians of the Galaxy, bringing them into the story’s plot.

However, destruction of the planet Xandar could eliminate its inhabitant superhero Nova and prevent him from ever making an appearance in future Marvel movies.

Captain America... to Die or not to Die?

Steve with wounds on his face in Captain America: The Winter Solider

If you've been following the rumors surrounding the fate of Captain America, then you've certainly been taken through an intense rollercoaster of emotions.

One minute everyone believes that Captain America is sure to die in Infinity War and the next minute everyone is talking about how he'll be spared.

Originally, Chris Evans was only contracted up until the end of Infinity War. This fact, plus Tony Stark's vision of Captain America's death in Avengers: Age of Ultron, has led fans to believe this movie may be the end for the beloved Cap.

However, Chris Evans has confirmed to viewers that he signed on for another movie and is contracted up until the end of Avengers 4.

So, could this mean that we could be seeing more of Captain America? Or could Marvel Studios still put an end to the shield-wielding superhero?

Red Skull will Return

During an interview with Hot 97, Samuel L. Jackson may have accidentally revealed the return of Red Skull.

When asked whether Nick Fury will return in Black Panther, Jackson said "no" and then added “you didn’t see me in Civil War, I’m still out there trying to figure out what, you know, The Skull is going to…”

Then he was cut off by his interviewer. Could Jackson have hinted at the return of Red Skull?

Red Skull was last seen in Captain America: The First Avenger being absorbed by the Tesseract. This, however, doesn’t necessarily mean he’s dead.

It has been long theorized that Red Skull is still alive and is simply being transported through time and space.

Some fans believe that Thanos will eventually set Red Skull free. The Mad Titan could obtain the Tesseract and trigger Red Skull’s return.

There are even some fans who believe that Red Skull could have traveled through time and space and evolved into Thanos himself.

Either way, Captain America needs to watch out.

Hela is the "H" in the T.H.A.N.O.S Theory

If you’re unaware of the T.H.A.N.O.S theory, it suggests that each letter of the name Thanos corresponds to the artifact holding each Infinity Stone.

Based on the theory, we currently know that T stands for Tesseract (space stone), A for Aether (reality stone), N for Necklace (time stone), O for Orb (power stone), and S for Scepter (mind stone). The only letter missing is H.

The common theory is that the H represents Heimdall because the stone is the same color as his eyes and because he can see all the souls in the Nine Realms.

However, another rumor suggests the H stands for Hela since she can control the dead and is expected to claim the souls of the Asgardians in Ragnarok. This theory also matches a rumor that states Hela will replace Death as Thanos’ love interest.

There is another theory that suggests the letters in Thanos could represent the location of each stone.

Therefore, T would stand for the Collector (reality stone), H for Head (the mind stone), N for Nova Corps (power gem), O for Odin (space stone), and S for Strange (time stone). Now, the "A" is left to represent the soul stone and maybe it stands for Asgard.

Captain America will Transition to Nomad and a New Cap will Take Over

At the end of Civil War, Captain America drops his shield. To many, including directors Joe and Anthony Russo, this represented the Cap letting go of his identity.

Now, based on a bearded Captain America depicted in an exclusive poster from San Diego Comic-Con, fans have received the confirmation they need to prove Captain America will transition into his new identity, Nomad, in Infinity War.

With Cap abandoning the government and taking on his new role as the country-less Nomad, it leaves room for a new Captain America to step forward.

Rumors suggest it will either be Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, or Sam Wilson as Falcon. Both have served as Captain America in the comics and have a high chance of fulfilling the role in the movies.

Bucky is still seen as a dangerous assassin and making the change to Captain America could be a“good overcomes evil” aspect for Marvel Studios to play out.

Sam Wilson, on the other hand, has stood by the Cap through thick and thin. He has been a longtime supporter of what Captain America stands for and would thus make a seamless transition into the role.

Thanos Will Resurrect All Dead Villains

Josh Brolin as Thanos in Avengers: Age of Ultron Post-Credits Scene

Villains in the Marvel Universe really stand no chance against the Avengers. Marvel Studios has been killing them off in mass since Iron Man in 2008. However, what if their chance is yet to come?

Some rumors suggest that Thanos will obtain all the Infinity Stones and be able to change the Marvel Universe as we know it.

One theory says that the Mad Titan will willingly warp time and reality to resurrect all the villains the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy have already defeated. Another theory suggests that Thanos will actually resurrect the villains by accident.

This would be an epic battle of good versus evil, and set Avengers 4 up to be one amazing story. Now, Kevin Feige did warn us of a mix-up in the Marvel Universe, and maybe this is it.
