Earth's mightiest heroes assemble in new official art for Avengers: Infinity War. The upcoming team-up movie culminates the past 10 years of storytelling into an unprecedented event that sees the Avengers, who have the Guardians of the Galaxy on their side (something that's set up in Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok this fall), face off against the Mad Titan Thanos and his Black Order, who have embarked on a quest to find the Infinity Gauntlet and its six Infinity Stones.

The movie has been heralded as the biggest movie ever made, and it's something comic book fans have waited years to see on the big screen, at least ever since Thanos was first teased in the mid-credits scene for Joss Whedon's The Avengers in 2012. So far, Marvel Studios head honcho Kevin Feige has said that they will release the movie's first trailer around the time Thor: Ragnarok releases in November, but that didn't preclude them from showing off some footage at D23 Expo 2017 and San Diego Comic-Con 2017 last month. While people have to wait sometime before seeing actual footage online, that doesn't mean the studio has stopped promoting the movie.

Today, award-winning artist Steve Cas has posted a close-up of new promo art for Anthony and Joe Russo's upcoming 2018 film, Avengers: Infinity War. The promo art only features select few characters from the upcoming superhero film, which stands to reason that more artwork is on the way. You can take a look at the art below, along with another Instagram post that shows what the finished product will look like.

As previously mentioned, only a handful of the heroes that have been confirmed to appear in the movie are featured in this new promo art. Three of the characters are members of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Rocket Racoon (Bradley Cooper), and Groot (Vin Diesel), whose teenage version first appeared in the post-credits scene for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and has been confirmed to reappear in Infinity War.

The other three characters are Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who's donning the Iron Spidey suit first teased at the end of Jon Watts' Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), who doesn't seem to be wearing the black Nomad Cap suit as previously thought. Furthermore, it's worth noting that Cas' other Instagram post hints at multiple versions of the artwork.

One poster shows the heroes standing in front of the Avengers logo, while the other (presumably) showcases Thanos in the background. That second poster somewhat resembles the cover art from Jim Starlin's iconic comic book series, Infinity Gauntlet, which the movie has taken inspiration from.
