‘Avengers’ Bloopers, Extended Loki-Hawkeye Scene, & Samuel L. Jackson Clip

Four minutes of bloopers from Joss Whedon’s The Avengers have been released online, along with an extended cut of the exchange between Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and a mind-controlled Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) – where Thor’s sibling decides to step out from his underground lair, so as to confront Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and his team of superheroes head-on.

The material will be included as part of the package for certain versions of The Avengers Blu-ray and DVD, including the 10-disc Collector’s Set that includes all six films that encompass ‘Phase 1′ of the Marvel Movie Universe (Iron Man 1 & 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and, of course, The Avengers).

The Avengers gag reel hits all the expected notes, with cast members flubbing their lines, breaking character, and just goofing around on set. However, the most memorable (and funniest) moments include a “dramatic” monologue from a bloodied Agent Hill (Cobie Smulders) swearing to avenge Agent Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) death, Chris Hemsworth as Thor struggling to keep a grip on Mjolnir in slow-motion, and a near-kiss between Coulson and his man-crush, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans).

Part of the aforementioned talk between Loki and Hawkeye made Whedon’s theatrical cut for The Avengers, but the full version dives deeper into the villain’s reasoning for revealing himself to the people of Earth.┬áCheck it out below:

This Loki-Hawkeye conversation doesn’t really flesh out the involved characters any further, unlike yesterday’s cut scene featuring Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Harry Dean Stanton’s security guard. Nonetheless, more screen time with Hiddleston as Loki is always welcome – not to mention, scenes like these more thoroughly explain what Renner means when he says he’s yet to play the Hawkeye “I signed on to play.”

Marvel’s Blu-ray release for The Avengers will feature all that and more, along with some thirty minutes of deleted scenes. Some of the additional material is expected to harken back to previous Marvel films, strengthening the narrative ties between Whedon’s ensemble adventure and its solo superhero peers. It’s been speculated that a reunion between Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) could be among the cut scenes, but that is unconfirmed (though, Whedon has admitted that he, at least, scripted such a sequence).

Lastly, check out this clip from the 90-minute documentary “Building a Cinematic Universe” from The Avengers Blu-ray, focusing on Samuel L. Jackson as S.H.I.E.L.D. head Nick Fury:

Look for The Avengers to hit DVD and Blu-ray on September 25th, 2012.

  1. saw this earlier today, it is so funny and worth seeing it again.

  2. Best bit for me is Hemsworth not catching Mjolnir..

    • The bit where Cap does a back flop after swinging from the tree got me chuckling! :D Gonna make an avatar from that clip.

  3. OMG LOL!!! when joss whedon shouted “stop fighting” to the avengers like their some kids arguing each other !!

hopefully someone would mix these deleted scenes (1080P quality) into one video file once the blu-ray is out!

  4. Cobie Smulders was HILARIOUS!!

    • Extremely. I didn’t feel she added anything to the film but now I’m lovin’ her!

  5. Great gag reel (: makes me enjoy the movie even more

  6. This s*** was mad funny!

  7. Those clips are all awesome, but I wish they’d just release a version of the movie that includes ALL these special features. It’s my understanding that the 90min feature about the making of the MCU will only be available at certain retailers in the US and UK… what about us international fans? – why can’t we enjoy the full experience as well? :(
*Sigh* the BD is being released next week over here, but I’d happily wait another month or two if it means I can get all the special features included…

    • The 90 minute doc is apparently only on the Blu-ray being sold at Sainsbury’s, one of the bigest supermarket chains here in the UK. So looks like I will be getting my copy there!

    • Buy it of ebay or something. UK and US fans are bound to be flogging it from there.

      • I would, but there’s this little thing called region codes that get put on Blu-Rays and DVDs across the world…
For some reason there’s a region block on most BDs/DVDs to prevent piracy. Although, I can’t possibly see how putting these blocks on discs would in any way stop/minimize piracy in the first place… I mean, who came up with that idea?! It’s silly. *sigh*

But, now that you mention it, I’m pretty sure South Africa and the UK share the same region code (a “B” for BDs and “2″ for DVDs) so maybe there’s a chance….

        • I think region codes and different release dates and differnet features for different regions actually encourages piracy. I’m in Australia, and our release date for the blu ray/dvd is August 29 but i cant find anywhere what special features I can expect on my copy. As long as I get all the deleted scenes, I’ll be happy enough, but knowing I probably wont get all the features on the USA release is kind of disappointing. I can understand why someone might choose to download another regions product illegally instead of paying full price in their region for a product which is less than someone else’s.

          • avatar_popco just go on JbHiFi’s website and type in the avengers, all the special features are listed once you click on an item.

          • “I think region codes and different release dates and different features for different regions actually encourages piracy.”
Exactly! That’s why it makes no sense to me… why not just release the SAME version with the SAME features across the world at the SAME time? – I’ll never understand corporate-Hollywood. They keep going on about how piracy (which I’m against BTW) is becoming the downfall of the industry, but then they make all these stupid decisions that actually encourage people to download and copy illegally.

  8. Loki scene actually explains a lot.

  9. Hahaha… “Your on your own!” Best blooper IMO.

Now I really want to see an extended cut of the film!

  10. I saw this movie TWICE in theaters. I never do that for any movie. I NEED this on BluRay already!!!

    • I’ve only ever done that for Cloverfield and The Dark Knight so yeah, I agree it takes a special movie to make you do that.

    • I did the same. Saw it twice. The last movie I paid to see twice was The Matrix.

  11. This is funny, and it gives you the sense that the cast (and director) truly had a good time working together on this movie.

My only gripe would be that this video doesn’t have enough Smokey & the Bandit music in it…

  12. i wish they would release the 3 hr cut whedon came up with at first. and once again, every other country is getting the BD a month before us. ah well, at least we got the shwarma scene 1st!

  13. My does was really crappy, and now, I am smiling again. This is the best. So much funny, “You guys are on your own!”

  14. Support Marvel Studios brand only. 20th Century Fox did not want to work with Marvel Studios on a trade that would have benefited both studios but Fox is too greedy. Don’t support 2nd rate Marvel characters anymore. Support Marvel Studios, home of the Real Marvel Characters.

  15. Was Loki doing Severus Snape on that one part? LOL

    • Yes, he was doing an Alan Rickman impression. Amazingly, I might add. XD

Back in a radio interview he did a line from “Robin Hood”, that was brilliant too.
I guess he just really likes Alan Rickman, but I can’t blame him, who doesn’t?

  16. Video isn’t working, now I feel bad that I didn’t get a chance to see this until right now and of course, its not showing. :,(

  17. def gonna buy the blu ray of this
