The Russo brothers, who directed Avengers: Endgame, love the dedication to theories that fans have about the upcoming film. In Avengers: Infinity War, the Mad Titan Thanos successfully defeated the Avengers and gained access to the Infinity Stones, which powered his Infinity Gauntlet. He used the gauntlet's power to snap his fingers, decimating half of the universe's population.

The snap also decimated the Avengers team, leaving many of their own disintegrated into ash. Endgame will finish the story that Infinity War started with, hopefully, the heroes defeating Thanos once and for all and restoring the world to how it was before he destroyed it. Because Infinity War ended on such a serious note, many fans have been speculating about how they expect the Avengers to win in Endgame. Some theories involve time travel and alternate universes. Some believe the Quantum Realm will somehow play an essential part in Endgame. One theory suggests the Avengers' past villains will somehow swoop in and save the day. The most popular and funny theory, though, is that Ant-Man will shrink himself down, fly up Thanos' butt and then expand, thereby destroying the villain.

That's probably not exactly how the film will play out, but the Russo Brothers do appreciate the theories that fans have come up with about Endgame. In an interview with Fandango, Anthony Russo revealed he hadn't previously heard about the Ant-Man theory when asked about it, but went on to say how they loved all the theories that fans were coming up with:

"Yeah, no, look, we love the fact that fans are out there really thinking very deeply about these characters, very deeply about these stories, thinking about all the places they could go, even of certain places. My brother and I have a real certain youth ourselves, so we get a big kick out of it. Look, we were fans long before we were filmmakers in the MCU, so we understand that point of view of participating in the narrative as a viewer and loving these characters and thinking about all the possibilities about where these characters can go, and really understanding their experiences and their journey. So yeah, the fact that the fans are enthusiastic about participating at that level is amazing. That's the best place to be."

Russo also spoke about how the ending of Infinity War devastated fans. Although most superhero movies rarely end on such a dark note, Disney approved the Infinity War ending precisely the way it did. The goal was to surprise fans, who would have never expected to see a film where the villain wins. The fan reaction was exactly what Marvel wanted, with many moviegoers leaving theaters all over the world stunned and in tears. Russo revealed that Endgame would also give fans a share of thrills and excitement, but would additionally challenge their perceptions and provide them with an experience that touches upon all their emotions.

Fans should prepare to laugh and cry throughout Endgame, which is much of why they continue to enjoy Marvel movies so much. It is a good bet that Thanos will finally meet defeat at the hands of the heroes, but however that goes, it's even a more sure bet that Avengers: Endgame could be one of the most successful movies to ever come out of Hollywood.
