According to Den of Geek, Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier has been letting all the beans spill from Marvel’s bag of tricks concerning the cast of the Avengers movie, as well as the current state of Iron Man 2. Is the Frenchman giving us fact, or just more fiction? I’ll let you be the judge of that.

The DoG source, who spoke to Leterrier during Marvel Night at the Grand Rex in Paris earlier this month, states that the director confirmed to him that Iron Man 2 is currently underway, with a script being written by director Jon Favreau and star Robert Downey Jr. If that’s true, it’s a relief to know that after all those rumors of major turmoil behind the scenes over at Marvel, Ol’ Shell-head is back safe in the hands of the men who made him a hit in the first place. (Does that mean that Tropic of Thunder writer Justin Theroux isn’t handling the script as rumored?

The DoG source also claims that Leterrier hinted that a previously unseen Avengers character will be making a cameo appearance in Iron Man 2, a la Sam Jackson’s Nick Fury appearance at the end of Iron Man. Could we see one of the A-list stars Marvel is said to be courting for the roles of both Captain America and Thor? Only time and the rumor-mill will tell.
Finally, the big drop: the DoG source, via Leterrier, confirms that Ed Norton, Robert Downey Jr., Sam Jackson and the rest of the A-list cast filling out Cap and Thor’s tights will all be on board to bring Avengers to the big screen in 2011! (Oh lord, let your glory be great that such a fantasy might become reality!)

Again, these source of a source type deals can only be taken with a LARGE grain of salt. However, who wants to play the pessimist in this case? I sure don’t. With Comic Con ‘08 set to get underway, perhaps Marvel will get fan fervor going and make an official announcement regarding all these rumors. Keep your eyes posted on the Con, and while you wait for the good news, take a minute to rant back to us with your thoughts.
Iron Man 2 and Thor are still set for 2010 release; The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers are both slated for 2011 release.

i like nick fury as white in the original comis and i’m not a racist…just a purist when it comes to comics. i know naacp gets mad when no black dudes get parts in any movie …bot jeez sam jackson hes in way too many movies as it is and i hate his voice
who should be nick fury? hell if i know but not sam jackson
Personally I could not possibly care any less about Fury being black or white however they want to do it. Pretty much same character for the most part just skin color.
i’d really like to see the rock or reaper from doom as captain america idk i think either one would play it well ofcourse thats just me hmm not to sure about thor though that is really a tough one, im a lil bad with names at the moment cuz its 5:35 and i havent been to sleep but harvey dent from the dark knight might not be to bad, but idk w.e.
and another good actor for captain america deff jason statham or w.e. his name is you know the transporter get him to beef up and he’d be awesome but hawkeye id he’ll be in it deff should be again the harvey dent guy from the dark knight but on the subject of ben afflack being in any hero movies ever again that should well be rethought and mat damon yea maybe a good hawkeye idk he’d have to really get that manly man look you cant have a clean cut hero thats just horrible lol thats like having a gay guy play the hulk i mean yea spiderman ok but really you need some burly hardcore mean lookin dudes….. nd also thomas jane as thor !!!! MOST DEFF i really like that idea ahh and again another thought think they are gunna add the whole the hulk picking up thors hammer cuz id love to see how that plays out in a real movie !!!
Thomas Jane as Cap and Jason Statham as Hawkeye would be great. They wouldn’t be too pricey on the salary side either.
