Thanos' destruction may have started to claim victims with a new casting call for Avengers 4 teasing a funeral scene. Over the years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has played loosely with the larger stakes for the heroes. So far, not many have died, and if they have, they've been brought back to life in some way - with only Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Quicksilver staying dead. While the casualties within the group have not been large, that is expected to change with Phase 3 nearing an end.

With several of the MCU stars nearing the end of their contracts, the arrival of a supremely powerful villain like Thanos (Josh Brolin) comes at both the worst and best time. Thanks to actors being ready to move on, the Mad Titan can not only kill them to add real stakes to Avengers 4, but also make Marvel Studios' job easier at minimizing their ensembles to bring in new faces.

Based on a new casting call for Avengers 4, the mourning may soon begin. Central Casting Georgia (via MCU Exchange) has posted a new casting call for the followup to Avengers: Infinity War that calls for "mourners." There is no details on who will be involved with the scene or what exactly will be taking place, but this could very well be an indication that a funeral is set to arrive soon.

Mourners: Looking for men and women over the age of 18, all ethnicities, to portray mourners. Especially looking for good character looks and expressive faces. This will be photo selected by the film’s directors! Size restrictions: Men no larger than 44 coat, women dress size 0-8. FOR NEW FACES ONLY! You cannot have worked on this project previously, or be booked on upcoming days. NO EXCEPTIONS!

The details of these potential mourners are small, so this can not definitively be for a funeral scene. While that remains the most likely possibility, another viable alternative is that people could be mourning the loss of loved ones on the streets around the world in a montage that shows all the destruction that Thanos has done across the globe. There is still not a ton of information available on Avengers 4's plot, but there does appear to be a decent amount of the film taking place on Earth.

That said, if this is a big scene in the movie, then it will surely be for a fallen hero. Who is the unfortunate character to bite the dust is unknown, but if it is a public funeral then it would be for a major star; since the MCU has largely done away with secret identities, it is reasonable to assume that the public would turn out in droves to mourn the loss of an Avenger. Of course, with the movie still years away, it will be quite some time before we learn who these people are mourning.
