The cast list for Avengers: Infinity War may suggest a confirmation of T’Challa’s sister Shuri returning for the film. The MCU’s 2017 is off to a fantastic start with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 earning the massive franchise another smash hit, and both Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok still to come this year. Many fans are already looking even further than that however, with plenty of speculation about 2018’s Black Panther and the massive ensemble movie Avengers: Infinity War.

Of course, it’s not surprising that fans are already thinking four movies ahead – Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of  a decade’s worth of Marvel movies, it’s going to include characters from all corners of the MCU, and it’s already well into filming. Various set photos and videos have popped up online, fueling speculation about which characters may appear, and now a little tidbit on the cast list may hold a clue to a new character who will be in both Black Panther and Infinity War.

The eagle-eyed MCU Exchange noticed that the IMDB listing for Avengers: Infinity War includes Crystal Michelle as a stunt performer for the film. Michelle is the stunt double for Letitia Wright’s Shuri in Black Panther, and according to IMDB, will be reprising that role in Infinity War.

Black Panther Shuri Avengers: Infinity War Is Another Black Panther Star Appearing?

Marvel has made no secret of the fact that Black Panther has a huge role to play in setting up the events of Infinity War, so it’s not too surprising to learn that Wright (and Michelle) will be returning for the film. However, Shuri’s part in Infinity War has not been officially confirmed, so this is the first indication of her role in the film. It has already been confirmed that Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa is also expected to be in Infinity War.

Shuri’s role in Infinity War won’t become clear until after the release of Black Panther, but this news would seem to confirm that Shuri will survive her MCU debut (which not all characters have). It also points toward Wakanda being involved in Infinity War, although it’s also possible for both Black Panther and his sister Shuri to leave Wakanda to take part in the event.

While IMDB is usually a reliable source for cast lists, it’s important to remember that it is not infallible, and that Wright’s Shuri has not been officially confirmed as a part of Infinity War by Marvel themselves. That said, it makes a lot of sense for this to be the case, and Shuri definitely deserves more screentime than just Black Panther.
