I really hope we get to see a trailer or some footage soon. Even a few small glimpses would be great because I’ve heard plenty of praise for this movie, and I would like to see this new camera innovation for myself

greenknight333 says:

I have enjoyed Cameron’s work..so I am going to be in the group that anxiously awaits this film and hopes it turns out to be everything the experts and saying it will be, revolutionary and ground-breaking…

Saben25 says:

I am entirely trusting James Cameron to deliver a film of the caliber we all know he is capable of. This is the man who gave us the “The Abyss,” “Aliens,” and “T2″… ’nuff said.

Cat says:

I hope it would but no it cannot live up to the hype.

Cat says:

If it doesn’t wow me like the matrix did then I’m calling it a disappointment.

Ken J says:

@cat

I’m not at all hating on Matrix, because I absolutely love the first Matrix, but I honestly think if that’s your baseline, then this movie will definitely meet that, I’m betting it will exceed that in “wow” factor, by a mile.

Matt K says:

Yes, this film is worth the hype

jerseycajun says:

Avatar is that movie I think of in a “oh yeah, and that movie by James Cameron” kind of way. Not dismissively, of course, ’cause I know next to nothing about it, just that it seems to be getting a bit lost in the sea of talk over other movies this year. I haven’t been following the production of it very well, not nearly as much as some other movies coming out this year. We’ll see what happens when we finally get to see a solid trailer.

BJ Jones says:

Good grief James what happened to your hair?

Joshi says:

Will it be as good as the hype is leading us to believe? No. Sorry, but it’s being billed as being the greatest cinema experience we’re ever likely to have, nothing could live up to that.

Now, Cameron isn’t one to do things half-arsed, quite the opposite in fact, which is why I’m sure it’ll certainly be good, better than most films, likely the best film of the year. But the fact is, most people will be going into this film expecting cinemas version of Nirvana (the concept, not the band) and will likely be disappointed. Personally, I prefer to go in with slightly lower expectations and be pleasantly surprised.

Ken J says:

@ BJ Jone

Yah, I was thinking that, lol, that’s his hippy hair, lmao!

790 says:

I don’t support 3-D so, no I won’t be seeing this,,,

Let’s not forget Cameron made the biggest chick flick ever, “Titanic”
Lol,,,, :-)

@790

I consider Titanic one of those “guilty pleasure” movies – I shouldn’t like it, but I do. :-P

Vic

Jim Dorey says:

Yeah I like TITANIC too. I love historical movies anyway, but it is a great story.

Oh and AVATAR will be released in 2D too, so don’t miss it 790. Of course I recommend 3D or IMAX 3D for it! :-)

790 says:

I might go if Vic gives it a high rating and I can find it in 2-D,,,
8-)

Richard says:

So those interviews made it seem like Avatars are like your digital self.. what in like a future MMO, where you cna be your Gnome Warrior and go fight other people or wtf? Those interviews are giving me a not good vibe.

rawpower05 says:

I’m going to see it because of what he has done with Aliens & T2.When you think of Camerons Sci-Fi action movies then you have to see Avatar based on that.Plus think about how technology changes every 5-10 years, and how great the Matrix loooked back then.

Matt K says:

I have yet to be dissappointed w/ Cameron’s films even “Titanic” was good

Ken J says:

Yah, once a movie is made in the same number of dimensions as how we see things in real life, it automatically is gimmicky and will suck, didn’t you guys know? It has nothing to do with the director, script, acting, or anything, just whether it is in 2D or 3D.

I have a favorite eating utensil too, I’m anti-spoon, Once a food is eaten with a spoon, I say it’s not good, fork only…

:-D

just kidding of course…

GUNSMITH says:

IVE SEEN SO LITTLE OF IT BUT THEY ARE HYPING THIS AVATAR THING UP ALOT, IS THE 3D GOING TO BE A NEW KIND OF 3D IS WHAT IM WONDERING, THE KIND THAT DOESNT HURT YOUR EYES, IVE SEEN THROUGH AND WATCHED ALOT OF 3D MOVIES AND STILL GET THAT RED AN BLUE HUE WHILE WATCHING AND IT HASNT BEEN THAT SPECTACULAR TO ME, BUT CAPTAIN EO’S 3D..THAT WAS ACTUALLY CLEAN..I HOPE THEY DO IT THAT WAY

Ken J says:

Um, why do so many people talk about the red and blue 3D. Serious question, because I havne’t seen that type of 3D for YEARS… Do people still use it??

Ironghost says:

I’ll wait till I see a trailer.

Ken J says:

I don’t know, for those of you who claim this is getting so over-hyped, I disagree. Most people I ask don’t even know about this movie. I say “Avatar” and they think I’m saying James Cameron is making a movie about the cartoon. Transformers 2 definitely has more hype than Avatar, by far. It has more hype than Terminator too. It’s kind of sad actually that such a “just ok” movie can be so highly anticipated by so many people… I guess that’s why nobody actually spends the time to make quality movies anymore, why bother? Gimmicks will earn just as much money, if not more…

Joshi says:

@Ken

Theres a difference between the hype for Avatar and just how much public awareness there is over a movie. While Avatar may not have as much public awareness as say, Terminator Salvation, or Transformers 2, it has a whole lot more hype surrounding it because Cameron et al are toting it as THE cinema experience of the decade, a revolutionary movie that’ll be one of the most original and greatest things you will ever see. So much so that out of the people who actually do know about it, a good portion of them really believe it’s going to be everything it’s being toted as.

That’s hype.

Ken J says:

It’s all hype in one form or another. You can’t just define hype as something that applies specifically to this one situation, I get what you’re saying, but it’s all hype.

SIN187UM says:

ROFL All this time I thought he was Making a version of Avatar: The LAst Air bender.

ROFL

790 says:

You know if Cameron thinks he can make a movie about those pictures by your name, he crazy.
Doesn’t matter if its 3-D, it will fail !!! :-)

Joshi says:

@790

If after all this hype Cameron’s movie actually does turn out to be a 90 minute movie about little 70×70 images, Cameron’s the bravest mo-fo in the business.
