Avatar Comic-Con Banner Revealed

James Cameron’s sci-fi blockbuster Avatar is one of many films that will most likely have a huge presence at this year’s 2009 San Diego Comic-Con.

Thanks to Coming Soon (and IESB), we have a first look at the banner for Avatar, which is already hanging up in San Diego, three weeks in advance of the convention.  Unfortunately, it’s only a snapshot instead of an officially released (read: high quality) image, but it’s definitely better to get somewhat of a look than no look at all! Check it out below (we’ve tried our best to enhance it):

This is the perfect kind of banner to tease Comic-Con attendees who will either A) already know what Avatar is and get excited that “more stuff” is inevitably coming, or B) not have heard of Avatar but will should have their eyes snagged by the intriguing image. I highly suspect the picture in the banner is one of the Na’vi, the 10-foot tall blue creatures that inhabit Pandora, the “other world” that most of Avatar is reportedly set on.

One of the lucky people amongst the 1,000 audience members who recently got to see some footage from Avatar said of the Na’vi – “These creatures seem so real, that within minutes you forget you’re watching an enormous and very blue CGI character. Even the eyes are totally convincing. The characters have real personalities and a soul…”

Even though I have some reservations about Avatar because it’s been hyped up so much, I still can’t wait to see what Cameron has in store for us. As far as I’m concerned, December can’t get here fast enough.
