the a team trailer The A Team Trailer Officially Released

The first official trailer for The A-Team has been released and it’s something you’re going to want to see. A lower quality leaked version appeared online recently only to be taken down in most places at the studio’s request but we wanted to wait for the real thing before sharing.

The trailer keeps the classic music and feel of the television series as well as most of the key characters of the A-Team members but really pushes the action to the extreme. See for yourself and you’ll understand.

Alongside Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s “Less gold, more muscle” take on B.A. Baracus, a role originally made famous by Mr.T, The A-Team stars Liam Neeson as Col. John “Hannibal” Smith, Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck and last but not least, District 9’s Sharlto Copley as “Howling Mad” Murdock. Joining the male action heroes is also Jessica Biel as Faceman’s ex and an Army general.

Check out the trailer:

For me the characters look great but it’s hard to tell how closely they’ll resemble what we remember from the series. I think Liam Neeson looks and acts perfect and I already love his character. I’ve always been a fan of Bradley Cooper and I’m excited to see what antics Sharlto Copley will bring to the table.

The character that will bring the most love-hate from the fans however, is Quinton “Rampage” Jackson acting like “B.A.” Baracus. No one can re-enact what Mr.T brought to the character and for the filmmakers trying to make him more muscle and comedy and less mean and less gold, that doesn’t fly either because too many love and expect the classic Mr.T. It’s a catch 22 situation for Jackson.

Sadly, despite confirmed guest appearances by original A-Team actors Dwight Schultz & Dirk Benedict, Mr.T will not be having a cameo in The A-Team. Though the the A-Team‘s van is certainly a part of the movie!

  1. I had to watch the trailer twice because I noticed Murdock having two different accents hahaha. He would do something like that.

  2. Damn, this trailer won’t make me go to the cinema. It just doesn’t convince me that this film will be any good…

  3. I’m raising my level to “cautiously optimistic.”

  4. Wow.
    Sharlto Copely.

I keep watching the trailer over again hoping he’ll have more lines than the last viewing. His career is one I’ll be watching with great interest.

  5. Well this trailer got me interested. I’ll be waiting for it in the cinema!

  7. this looks reeeeeally fun.

I can’t wait to see this one.

I wonder ……will anyone actually get killed in this version or will they just shoot in front of the bad guys feet like on the tv show ?

  8. I think Jackson as Baracus is the weak link and it might not be entirely his fault – I’m not liking that they seem to have “lightened up” the character. I don’t want to see Baracus laughing, smiling and making jokes. I want an always mean, with the very rare peeking through of heart Baracus.

Other than that, it does look fun.

  9. Trailer looks pretty good, but it wouldn’t matter. . . I grew up on the “A-team”, I’ll definitely go see it!

  10. Looks like straight-up action fun! Count me in!

  11. It was looking ‘watchable’ until the CGI appeared.

A Predator drone flying like a fighter jet fired an AA missile, they bailed out in a strange looking tank with a parachute, then shot down the Predator in mid air with the 50 cal. What the?

Apart from the rough characters and title it really appears to have nothing to do with the original A Team.

I had very low expectations from the first moment I found out this movie was being made, but the ridiculous CGI “action” is too much.

  12. ….no matter how good the rest is, if BA is awake on that plane, this movie will fails!

  13. Looks much better than I thought it would.

You are right though, Rampage is the wild card. He “acted” in other films (straight to DVD, King of Queens) and he is absolutely HORRIBLE. Not to mention he is one of the most disliked fighters in MMA right now and just got sentenced a 3 year probation for going on a rampage (pun intended) all over LA in a giant truck that had HIS NAME AND PICTURE on the side of it (lol).

Having said that, he is surrounded by some truly talented ppl and this movie could turn out fun as long as Rampage is just a side story.

Count me in for the DVD release.

  14. It sucks that Jackson is getting such a bad rap. Like Rob says, either he plays the character exactly like Mr. T did, and have all the fans tear him a new one by being nothing but a pale imitation, or he reinvents the character, and have all the fans tear him a new one by not playing it the same way Mr. T did.

But I’m definitely looking forward to this. Can’t say I was ever a huge fan of the A-Team, it was before my time and I’ve only seen a handful of reruns, but I’d see this movie just for the cast alone.

  15. My biggest worry is the Irish accent on Neeson. But otherwise looks great!

  16. Copely is going to make this movie.

  17. Looks like a good adrenaline ride popcorn flick!!

  18. @ stpau1y

Copely will be the only reason to this tripe.

  19. Looks Cool

  20. WOw, Neeson looks great as Hannibal! I’m also really like Copely as Murdock. I think he might be the best character in the film. I was cautiously optimistic about them making a movie of one of my favorite shows growing up, but it seems like they’ve really paid homage to it. I will definitely be going to the theater to see this one. Seems like it’s going to be a fun movie to watch.

  21. lmfao look its dickus, this is a must dam see film for me.

  22. I don’t know. I hated the original show I thought it was just dumb and MR. T was the worst part of it. This certainly looks better than the show a little less Cheesy and oh look no crappy Mr T. If the movie really wanted to make a profit they could jump the over grown idiot and sell half of his gold.

More or less it looks like your basic empty action flick I’ll probably wait till it hits a dollar theater and then be disappointed that a great talent like Liam is wasted on meaningless popcorn garbage.

  23. Wow…this trailer really confirmed what I thought. I grew up with re-runs of the series, so my nostalgia might contaminate my opinions of it to some degree, but when I saw the trailer all I could think was “this is so lame, it hurts”. The fighting/shooting from a tank hanging from a parachute was just to much :S

Particularly dissapointed that Liam Neeson is in it, I am used to much better stuff from him (granted I haven’t seen this film yet, but I can’t imagine is being being satisfying in any way). I guess I am leaning towards the series too much.

  24. I agree with Vic. BA is the weak link from what we can see here.

My concerns are that 1.) They should have hired an actor with chops to play B.A. Someone smart enough to be inspired by the original, but make it something that actor could claim ownership of. That takes polish and skill, not typically traits of an ex-MMA fighter.

The second concern seems to be an extension of the first, as if the director was telling his actors to imitate, rather that create with inspiration, the characters from the source material.

That said, I was genuinely surprised that some of the best moments in the trailer came from Sharlto Copley.

  25. For the record, I haven’t bashed Jackson anywhere on this site – I barely know who the guy is so I can’t say anything good or bad about him. I’m just going off of what I see in the trailer above, and to me (as a fan of the original) it doesn’t work.

Especially in light of the fact that with all the other characters they really seem to be trying to nail the vibe of the originals.

  26. as much as i love the A-team i wont be going to see this am sorry but there is only on mr T

  27. As a fan if the show, I was REALLY leery of this cast. But tonight I was quietly watching the new “Kick-Ass” trailer (New one… cool) When I heard the announcer on the next trailer say something about ‘being convicted of a crime they didn’t comit and promptly escaping from a maximum security prison’ (sumpthin’ like that…)My jaw dropped – I know that premise! As a fan of “Howling Mad” Murdock I was REALLY concerned about his character (since I really hated “District 9″ … a lot.) From what I saw… looks GOOD! I felt much better about the project. Neeson didn’t botch the line “I love it when a plan comes together.” so that’s a plus, eh?
I got so excited that I forgot to kick on the house lights in “Avatar” (which was over), just behind me!
The main problem I had with B.A. is that his haircut is wrong 😛 Mr. T had an African style, and this one just isn’t it… If you want some serious Mr. T action, pick up a copy of “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs” his character was totaly cool in that :-)
To reiterate – It looks a WHOLE lot better than I was expecting! (at least, the trailer does…) I’m looking forward to it now.

  28. the helicopter scene wasnt as bad as you guys make it out to be, the MR.T replacement should have really gotten rid of his side burns.

i havent seen the original a team and dont plan to anytime soon, im just going to watch this and judge it based on first impressions not what some crappy 80’s tv series.

  29. BTW ~ Does anyone else have the toy van & the action figures from the TV show? I do!
