First Look at Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs in ‘jOBS’

First Photo of Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs First Look at Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs in jOBS

When Ashton Kutcher was cast as Steve Jobs in the aptly named jOBS film, many an Internet commentator was concerned that perhaps he wouldn’t have the presence or acting chops to play the late, great Apple creator. On the other hand, he does bear a surprising resemblance to Jobs early on in his career – at least as far as biopic resemblances go.

The first official photo featuring Kutcher in his Steve Jobs getup has been released as part of the Sundance Film Festival lineup, which also features cast and plot info for the film.

Check the photo out below:

The image is intended to recall an actual photo of Steve Jobs from way back in the day, with the same outfit, hair, beard, and THINK poster in the background.

If nothing else, it’s probably safe to say that the filmmakers have done a top-notch job of making Ashton Kutcher look as much like Steve Jobs as is physically possible. Though I can’t help but notice that the Kutcher photo is still totally missing a lot of key details – namely, where’s the candy apple?

Finally, here’s the listing, from the Sundance Film Festival website:

jOBS / U.S.A. (Director: Joshua Michael Stern, Screenwriter: Matt Whiteley) — The true story of one of the greatest entrepreneurs in American history, jOBS chronicles the defining 30 years of Steve Jobs’ life. jOBS is a candid, inspiring and personal portrait of the one who saw things differently. Cast: Ashton Kutcher, Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons, Matthew Modine.

jOBS is only one of two Steve Jobs biopics currently in the works, the other one being Steve Jobs, which Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network) is writing. That film hasn’t gotten past the written stage yet, but both George Clooney and Noah Wyle – who already played Jobs in Pirates of Silicon Valley - have been rumored to be up for the role.

If you really love biopics, Steve Jobs, and/or Ashton Kutcher, jOBS is probably the movie for you. Look for it in 2013.

  1. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING

  2. @Kaero, yeah we know you are.

    • Apply cool water to burned area.

  3. They’ve done a great job making him look like Jobs – so many similarities.

    • Perhaps they should have made him loose a few pounds and die his hair, or is he above all that? He looks nothing like jobs!

  4. He definitely looks the part! I’m not so sure he can act the part but we’ll see. :)

  5. Wow- he looks more like Steve Jobs than the real Steve Jobs photo!

Now time to see some clips.

  6. Maybe if you look at the picture you will see the candy apple,
Ill give you a hint … its the red thing that looks like a candy apple, it is ontop of the shelf that has the think poster on it.
Its even more clearer in the close up pic that you posted for us to see.
Only difference is no stick sticking out of it.
    Your Welcome Ben!! ;)

    • Ehh, without the stick, it just looks like a regular apple to me.

  7. To be fair, you could stick that wig and beard on anyone and they’d probably look quite a lot like Steve Jobs.

  8. LOL….Kelso Jobs

  9. Didn’t realize he looked so much like Jobs when Jobs was younger. We’ll see if he can act like him, though.

  10. I would much rather have someone who looks nothing like steve jobs, but can actually act.

    • +1. These leeches are going to s**t all over Jobs’ legacy by having Kutcher in the role.

  11. Reminds me of a scene in a Simpsons episode where they make the ‘Radioactive Man’ movie. Krusty bursts into the trailer of the director demanding a part, gets refused then produces 4 photos with the phrase, “But look at my range…”. The joke of course being that it’s just costumes and standard facial expressions.

At this moment, I’d cast Milhouse in anything over Ashton Kutcher.

  12. Kutcher can act, I loved him in “The Butterfly Effect”

    • The ONLY movie that he was DECENT in and it was a decade ago. How many movies has he been in total? Stop using the Butterfly Effect excuse. He cannot act.

This is a joke. It’ll be like Lindsey Lohan playing Elizabeth Taylor. The entire time I’ll be thinking it’s that idiot from that 70′s show.

  13. Have you seen Steve’s yacht? http://duckduckgrayduck.com/2012/10/30/steve-jobss-yacht/

  14. Ashton Kutcher will knock this one right out the park. Can’t wait.

  15. Lol.

  16. Of course he looks more cute. But I’m not sure if he’ll ever reach Steve Jobs stature. http://bit.ly/SvKOGH

    • Hate to break it to you Sophie, but your website sucks. You’re a loser and you’ll never accomplish anything in your pathetic life. Go spam some place else.

  17. Undoubtedly Steve was a revolutionary of the technology, but also wanted to monopolize hardware and Software at its beginnings. Thanks to Bill Gates and Microsoft the personal computing was available to all, not only an elite

    • And then Gates and Microsoft tried to do the very same thing.
