Bruce Campbell has revealed that Ash has a daughter in the upcoming third season of Ash vs Evil Dead. Campbell, of course, first brought Ashley J. "Ash" Williams to life in director Sam Raimi's cult horror film The Evil Dead  in 1981, followed by Evil Dead 2 in 1987 and Army of Darkness in 1992.

In 2015, years after begging by fans for an Evil Dead 4 movie (and a 2013 remake of the original with no Ash), Raimi, Campbell and original Evil Dead trilogy producer Rob Tapert rewarded the faithful with not another movie, but with the Ash-centric Ash vs Evil Dead  – along with two new companions: Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) and Pablo (Ray Santiago), and a nemesis, Ruby (Lucy Lawless) – on Starz. Following two comedically gore-filled seasons, Ash Vs. Evil Dead is coming back to Starz in the fall, and with a new revelation.

In an interview with Geek Girl Project, Campbell says Ash Vs. Evil Dead season 3 will contain the reveal that Ash has a daughter. He says:

"Wait until you see season 3, baby. It's off the charts. We're jumping off a cliff at the end. It will never be the same. The world will never be the same at the end of this season. There's some big shit that happens – Ash's daughter. Ash has a child. She's in trouble. She's a target. The demons are like the mafia. They go after your family. Not only has saved the world, now he has to raise a daughter -- a teenager. An unruly teenager."

Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2 2016

The introduction of Ash's daughter in season 3 of Ash somewhat mirrors a shuttered storyline that was pitched for season 2. In a December 2016 interview with A.V. Club, Craig DiGregorio, who left his post as Ash Vs. Evil Dead showrunner after season 2, said the alternate version of the season finale revealed that Ash actually fathered a girl who would grow up to be Kelly.

But from what Campbell told Geek Girl Project, the "Ash is a father" storyline will be a bit different. Acknowledging that Kelly are Pablo are not teens ("They're the adults now," he said), and saying the daughter is a teenager pretty much takes DeLorenzo out of contention to be the daughter of the chainsaw-handed, boomstick slinging, deadite killing antihero.

That means, naturally, that a new cast member or two (the daughter and her mother) is poised to join Ash Vs. Evil Dead season 3, but as to who they will be is up in the air. Campbell told Geek Girl Project that he would not be at the San Diego Comic-Con in a couple weeks, but rather at the New York Comic-Con this fall. That's not to say that news of the new cast member won't break at SDCC, but with lack of Campbell at the fan event, it will be interesting to see if there will even be an Ash Vs. Evil Dead panel. Whoever the new cast member or members will be, they are bound to be, as Ash would say, "groovy."
